Interview with Skyzen
Skyzen is the artist for Ella's Hope, Aldorlea Games latest release. Join us while we find out a little more about him.
Q: For Ella's Hope you had to portray Ella 3 times. Do you find it's harder to sketch the same character under different settings or is it easy for you to remember the character's main features and keep them in future drawings?
A: Actually, it has always been hard for me to draw a character more than once. It always takes time for me to make it the exact same character, specially with the face, repeating that part is the hardest.

Q: Of all of the characters you've designed for Aldorlea which is your favourite and is there a reason?
A: I guess it would be Sakari from Ella's Hope. I've always liked calm-looking but powerful characters, and also cause she's a spell caster. Mages or any other spell caster are my favorite type of game character.
Q: When did you first get interested in drawing and did you ever think your art would end up in games?
A: I started drawing when i was 5 years old I think, before my elementary school days..:) and no, I never even thought my art would be good enough for a game or for any commercial purposes and I was really glad when i was commissioned by Aldorlea Games, it really helped me gain more confidence on my art. :)
Q: Which artworks for Ella's Hope did you find most exciting to make?
A: I guess it would be designing Areth, cause of all the character she was really different, her being a fairy, her color scheme, her attitude, and just doing the overall design of her was really fun.
Q: What was the hardest artwork your drew until now for Aldorlea?
A: That would be Cal and Marcus from Ella's Hope with two reasons, first is because I'm not used to drawing male characters very much, often when I draw male characters their faces still turn out looking like girls. hehe. second is because of their armors, it was actually my first time making armors when i made the artwork of the two said characters, it was hard but it was still fun cause I had to experiment with new techniques.

Q: You do something else for fun instead of drawing?
A: Besides drawing, i guess my second favorite past time is playing musical instruments, I love playing the guitar and drums, and next would be playing computer games, i enjoy mostly racing and adventure games. I also play rpg games but not too much.
Q: What would you say your main influences are? Do you have a special artist you particularly like?
A: I guess watching too much cartoons when i was little influenced me on drawing. Ever since then I loved drawing while watching cartoon or anime shows, but growing up I had a lot of new influences, mainly friends or relatives that are artists too, teaching me techniques or tools that can help me improve my skills. And for now there are too many artists that i really look up to, mainly anime-style artists on art websites and artists of anime shows.
