I also noticed this in the article: "Dreamscape was designed from the start as a 2D RPG, unlike other stories of mine, such as Laxius Force or Millennium." - Does that mean that LF or MM were intended as 3D games or that they were supposed to be books, not games?

So if I understand it right and considering the other interview for LF, you basically wanted to be a writer and ended up making games because it was a suitable way for telling stories, right?

Oohhhh no lol

I first conceived Laxius Power/Force as a story. Then I made a novel out of it and a game (on paper). But obviously the novel was deeper. When RPG Maker first came out, I adapted the game to the videogame format.

Now regarding Dreamscape - it was directly made as a videogame. It was never conceived as a story at first.
I have plenty of already made stories I may potentially adapt as videogames. But Dreamscape first existed as a videogame.

I see. Btw, there's a movie called Dreamscape (year 1984) - is it only coincidence with names?

Anyway, the whole idea of DSC - travelling from one dream to another - is imo pretty unique - I can't remember anything really similar. Yes, there are for example The Futurological Congress from Stanisław Lem or more recently Inception, they both contain multiple dreams in the story, but it's only one-way trip, i.e. the main character goes from one dream to another, but not back again.

Yup it's a total coincidence with the movie.
A game also got released after mine, called dream:scape lol

I think the concept mostly allowed to develop an intricate and interesting gameplay. :)
