cure girl in church

I asked the mage in cult of dragons but he won't give me his cure. I asked before castle of malice and also after Merline says she has pox.
I completed castle of malice and asked again but he still will not give me the cure.
Merline's status is not showing her having pox.
Can I still cure the diseased girl in church or did I need to ask for the cure as soon as Merline says she has pox
