i got millennium 3 awhile back was wondering how to update it

Just download the new version and install it. Although, it might be a good idea to uninstall the older version, if you can still see it in the Control Panel.

it comes up as a trial version because i paid for the old version

If you bought MM3 here at Aldorlea, then your licence key will work on any newer version.
In case that you have the key no more, try ask Indi for help - he should be able to retrieve it again, if you tell him the email address the game was bought with.
