(the key which unlocks the chest in the Thieves Guild)

in LF 1, and as I knew I wouldn't use it in LF 2, I didn't pay attention if I have it in my inventory. But now I discovered it was missing. I checked my old savefiles and I found out the item was lost during the transmission from LF 1 to LF 2 (I don't remember which version of LF 2 I played the 5th chapter on, so this issue could have been alredy solved). I don't feel like replaying the whole LF 2 again, is there any other chance

Well you could just complete the quest from the Fighters guild....(destroy thieves guild), and once you do so the chest is no longer available. You have to choose one or the other anyways!

With the key, I could have opened the chest, got the proposed reward and then destroyed the guild.

Edit: There's no error during the transition between LF 1 and LF 2, in my early LF 2 saves it's present. I must have lost it somewhere during LF 2.

I have the same problem, my garden key was lost somewhere in LF2 I checked it and at first it was here

I have it in the beginning of Ch7, but my "5 ArenA victories" savefile doesn't contain it. I suppose the wicked queen Luci wasted it in the palace gardens to open the southwest gate. I'll try to buy the additional key from the fairy, play the earlier parts of Ch7 and then report, if the garden key remained in my inventory or not.

And the damned brown key doesn't even fit the keyhole. The bad thing is that Luci throws away the key after opening the gate, so I think I'm gonna sacrifice what's behnind it (3 fairly weak permanent boosters and Oxhal, a rare alchemist ingredience which is not necessary to win the alchemy contest - I loaded my savefile directly before the contest, sold Oxhal, and still had anough points to win the contest).

... that's a nasty way to lose a key that only works 1 game later...

*Checked* You really lose the key in the garden.
I have it before in LF2, but not after that part.

Guess i'll need to play LF2 again for a perfect savefile in LF3 -_-

This was found in the kitchen of the palace in Adretana in LFI no? There must be a girl in front of the sink that you got Garden Key. That prevents you from getting it. I guess that's what it means.
