I'm trying to kill the Ocean Gaes as a part of the Fire Guild quest and its still alive. I've been trying for the past hour, the only person who is able to attack and do some damage is Random. How many HP does this thing have? I'm starting to get annoyed......please help me!!

A lot. If you went to the fire guild and got the skill with combines Tarabulla and Randoms power, it is good against him. Just use Brussian and Maryllis to keep everyone alive and healthy.

hmm very good strategy is Sarah spell High Fly Strike, inflict Delay on Gaes.Best spell on Gaes with Sarah Sarah
equipped with Sanctum Words - one time I take between 3000-5000 (with Critical of course) with one cast.Аt the beginning of the battle this magic is not strong to say!!!
After you downloading a bit of "Gaes skin" , he becomes more vulnerable to it
-Wendala - may use All Laxius spells, especially Laxius Torpedo, inflict Instant Break sometimes.
My Random (used once Tunder Storm, Chaos) and Luciana don't have very good and strong spell for Ocean Gaes and they used healing items to restore HP/MP.

Minimum to defeat Gaes is from 30 to 40 minutes
And don't forget boost Weapon Boost/Haste (not very important but still)
Gaes gave me Esclachaboom - 16HP permanent

My strategy -
Random - Lethal punishment
Luciana - Firt couple of times Lord of the dance (Till it has defense down and shatter conditions) then use 'burning ground', she also does the healing
Sarah - First couple of times Sun Boomer to lower defenses and then moves to 'burning ground' and healing
wendela - Laxius Torpedo from begging to end

Burning ground does ~5000 damage everytime.
It has helped me put down countless tough monsters.. it totally rules (im so glad i bought 99 of them in LF1, cant remember whether they were available in LF2 and LF3) - edit - whooo hooo.. a lady sells them in the palace of ultai (harem)

I'm just trying to kill this Ocean Gaes and read your posts. I'm surprised by your strategies because I can't get there with anybody else than Random, Tara, Petula and Askhbar. They were the ones to touch the lights on the bridge and I can't change the party in the Rainbow Cave. When I leave and come back the lights are there again and I can't pass with other members.
Maybe I'm there too early? Just came back from first time Kondler.

BTW, you can do this quest later on to (the Rainbow Castle from the Fire Guild), and then you can substitute Marilys for Petula. She is better at healing. Don't forget to protect from stone.

Thanks for the hint! After reading the posts about "Laxius spells" I chose to to it later anyway. So I'll wait until I have Marilys!

Somebody asked how many HP this thing has. I did it only with Burning Ground and had to use 35. Each one does about 5000 HP damage to it, so it must have ~175000 or more.
I personally didn't want to waste time with other strategies. If you run out of Burning Grounds - spend a little money for the Lava Pool in the Fire Guild. One of the monsters there randomly drops them!

Edit: Or simply buy them at the Ultai!

don't know why you guys had such big problems .... I only used status inflictions like def down/shatter/diminution/slow/delay/aura broken and then used Fury with random .... he was doing around 20k dmg in those 6 fury atacks per one round .... in a few rounds he was dead ... 8 minutes max was gone.... no burning ground used ... no new armor .... I have to add that I was using 666 blade and I had 1614 base dmg with it .... maybe that made a difference. The 666 blade it's just too good one Random when you encounter creatures vulnerable to it.

Interesting. I think I never used that blade too much, probably because there are others that appear to be stronger. But I'll keep that in mind for next time!
