Still in the mood for Halloween?

This is the 4th game by an Aldorlea's community favorite: Orfeas Studios.
Their first offering, The Deal, was a massive success on Aldorlea, ranking 3rd of 2017.
https://aldorlea.org/thedeal.php
Their second and third offerings, Aplestia and The Prophecy Lies, also did very well.
https://aldorlea.org/aplestia.php
https://aldorlea.org/theprophecylies.php

This new game can be seen as a festive successor to Aplestia.
It has the same characters, but is globally more Halloween based.
As always, a demo is available for you to judge whether this game is your thing or not.
And for your convenience, a FREE guide comes with the game:

Hello Orfeas, and thank you for another great game. Loved the description of the game, especially the different difficulty modes (I love Easy mode), secret rooms, and visible, non-respawning enemies (am so tired of respawning enemies, especially if they are invisible).
And I love those little pumpkin icons. It's a buy for me. :)

OK, I am now about to enter the third place, and I am enjoying this game immensely (wish there were more games like this one around), but I haven't yet come across a secret room.

In the description it says: 7 secret rooms with visual cue (I assume it should be "clue"), but I didn't see anything. In the first place, a blue pumpkin was hanging about, and I thought that maybe that was the entry to the first secret room, but I didn't get anywhere. So far, I have clicked on many things, and walked into many things, to see if I come across a secret room, but no such luck. Any hints on what to do to find them, Orfeas?

Thank you for your nice words, Vald! It really means a lot!

Like the mini-guide says, when you see "something" off or different (like the blue pumpkin in the catacombs), it means there's a secret room nearby. Nearby is the key word here! I don't want to spoil the exploration for the others, so please see the spoiler for more:

Spoiler: show
In the Dirt Catacombs, the secret room is just five steps down from the blue pumpkin! It's nearby, but not directly next to the pumpkin. I didn't want to basically point at the secret rooms, since you guys find those things even without any clues. Keep in mind that every stage has its own visual clue. Blue pumpkin for the catacombs, blue mushrooms for the forest(2 times), blue-eyed gargoyle head for the haunted castle, blue flame for the witch mansion. The last stage has blue pumpkins again(2 times).

If you want, I can list the exact places of the secret rooms here and if more people get confused, I will update the guide, as well.

P.S: I used "cue" and not "clue" in the guide, because the translator said that cue = signal, indication, prompt, nod. So I thought it was more fitting. If you found that strange... I guess I was completely wrong!! I think it's cleat that English is not my first language! +::biggrin

English is not my first language either, Orfeas. :) And thank you for the hints. No need to give the precise locations, those hints were just right. Now that I know what to look for, I will go back into the catacombs and the forest to find those secret rooms before I continue with the haunted castle.

Thanks so much for this and your previous games, all of which I still love and play. +::heart

I'm very happy you're having so much fun with my games!

Spoiler: show
In the mini-guide, I have a table with the rooms, where the entrances to each Secret Room are located. In the Haunted Castle, Room numbered 4, go downstairs from the right staircase, go down and you will see the gargoyle head on the wall. Just run "through" the wall to the left of the corridor with the cauldron.
You will enter the secret room. It's a bit easy to miss, since the gargoyle's eyes are a bit difficult to see.

Thanks so much for telling me where to go, Orfeas. I would have never known because
Spoiler: show
the gargoyles eyes aren't blue, but are just the same grey as all the other gargoyles eyes.
And I never looked at the guide, keep forgetting it's there. :)

Additional: I have now finished the game. Yayyy !! Loved it. Greatly enjoyed the game, and am looking forward to your next game. :)

After getting back to the real world,
Spoiler: show
and was told I hadn't yet completed everything, which surprised me,
I checked the mini guide and saw that there were also
Spoiler: show
mystic rooms
as well, some or all of which I hadn't found yet. So I realised that there is so much more to this game than I initially thought. :)

Really glad you enjoyed A Spooky Teparty, Vald, even if it's not a "traditional" rpg like The Deal or The Prophecy Lies.
However, it's not just a five-dungeon game, as you saw! It has exploration, battling, loot and questing like all of my previous games!
+::music
The Mystic Rooms are an important sector of the game. You definitely should try finding them all, since they contain the Mythical Weapons of the game and other loot! Plus, they have cool glowing runes as a "door", which is nice!
Oh, I have a quick question for you. How long did it take you to finish the game? I didn't count the time needed to finish it in Easy Mode, so it will be interesting to know.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
(For anyone, who wants to 100% complete the game:
The free mini-guide documents all the Mystic Rooms and their whereabouts, so it will be easier to visit them, especially after finishing with the fourth dimension! I also have a section called "How to 100% complete the game?", which will help everyone understand which things are the important ones! I really recommend having the mini-guide open or at the ready while playing!)

Hi Orfeas... I checked the time on the game, and it's 5 hours and 45 minutes of which I spent a little time at the end to get back to the otherworld after I entered the real world to look for more mystic rooms, and get the last 2 weapons I had been missing.
Also, I am a slow player and did spend a little extra time trying to find that gargoyle head with the blue eyes. Others might make it through in less time.

Now that I am more familiar with what to look for, I will give the game another go. :)

When I started the game again, I realised why I didn't find all the mythical rooms right away. It's because at least one of them is inside the secret room (the first one was, anyway - can't remember about the others). And once I entered the secret room, the colour of the item that shows the way goes back to the colour of the other items. Like the blue pumpkin in the first place changes to orange when I come out of the secret room. So it will be hard later on to find that secret room again in order to enter the mythical room within.

So, in effect, it would be better if I don't go into the secret rooms
Spoiler: show
until the end when I get the scroll that opens up the mythical rooms.

Didn't catch this post, sorry!
I asked you for the time you played, because I was a bit afraid that Easy Mode would give way less gameplay time, but since you got at least 5 hours, that nice! To be honest... everyone is a slow player, right? Who wants to breeze through a game, especially during their first playthrough? It's completely expected for anyone to take their time!

The blue clues for the secret rooms are linked to the secret room entry. However, you can reenter as many time as you like. So, if you see something (like the mystic room in secret room #1) that needs more investigating later, you can do exactly that! I agree that the fact that the blue clues revert to their original forms makes things a bit difficult, but in the mini-guide, I wrote down all the Mystic Room exact spots, so that even if you forget one's whereabouts, you can read where it is and go there, without problems.
I guess the mystic room inside a secret room is a bit forgettable. I hope it wasn't a big issue.

Thank you for still playing the game, actively joining the forums and generally being cool, Vald!

Oooh... I wouldn't mind at all, Orfeas. It would be an honour. 8)

And yes, I know I can re-enter the secret rooms, and I have now downloaded your mini guide so I will be able to find them again later on. +::Thumbup

As for slow players: I have seen gamers who rush through games, just so they can boast that they finished a game in the shortest time possible. I like to take my time, have a look around, and explore everything. So much more fun. :)

BTW, I am really surprised that no one else has been posting in this thread. I know there are other gamers on here who, like me, like the kind of games you produce. So I am wondering where they are ??
