The obvious choice for Karine would be Radha Mitchell, she played in the "Rogue" movie (it was about a giant crocodile...) and the "Crocodile hunt" part of MM1 was inspired by this movie.

lol the croc hunt wasn't really inspired by it, I just happen to like this kind of settings, but I did see Rogue (although no clue if I'd seen it before making MM1 tbh) and I loved it.
It reminded me a lot of Jaws, my fav movie of all time. The ending sequence was stunning. And the guy is a true hero lol plus the director is a huge talent (he also made Wolfe Creek)

Anyway, Radha Mitchell is nice but the physical resemblance with Karine is not obvious imo - Charlize Theron looks more like her (still imo)

Okay, I just thought that it was similar situation as with LP and the Beast.

Hugh Jackman would be more suitable for James than for Jack imo

And what about Jake Gylenhaal as Jack?

Salome and Marine - I can't think of anyone right now, but Ageliki's suggestions are quite a good ones imo:

Monica Bellucci as Salome (although she doesn't have blue eyes)

and Franka Potente as Marine
