Stuck in Puddy Tat Cave

Literally. I just downloaded new (3/2) version, so that Alex could actually put the chicken water in a jar, and on the way I fought that giant cat in a cave. Now I can't leave the cave--the characters can't move south. Help.

I did restart--multiple times. The down button doesn't work after you enter the cave.
