Resets happen when you defeat a demon. So just going to the Lost Continent will do make one happen.

Thinking tactically, you might want to come back part way through the Lost Continent because your characters will be stronger and have better gear, and using the 'Go Through' mechanism, you won't have to redo areas you don't want to.
