Congratulations on getting Book of Legends on Steam!! :) :)
But i can't help but ask. Those who bought the game when it first came out, are we going to get a Steam activation key?

I don't want to sound bitter, but it's kind of unfair to us.
If I have bought a bundle containing the game, I wouldn't make such a request.
But I guess that's developer(s) policy.

Hm, I can't really see why it would be unfair.
When I buy a boxed game at a store and then the same game is being released at another store with different features, I also can't get it as well for free.
I don't see why it would be different only because the games here are download versions and purchased directly from the dev.

Boxed editions have activation keys. But, I'm talking for downloadable edition only. Developer's such Dave Gilbert, give you an activation key if you buy the game via developer's site or even rival distributional platforms such as GOG.
Now, why would i support the developer when i can purchase the game cheaper from Steam and not with lesser features?

The version you purchased here does too ...
You can't seriously expect a dev to resend activation keys for every platform they publish games on!

How is this about supporting the dev? If you rather buy a game from Steam, then go ahead and get it. That's what it's being published for there.
The advantage you have when purchasing directly from the dev is that you can always redownload updated versions. For me personally that's more important than saving a few bucks.

It's not about the price. Just wanting to activate a game i've already bought. Nothing more, nothing less.
I guess i'm asking too much. Giving Steam redeemable codes for an already purchased title is common sense among indie developer companies.

But what you bought IS activated! You did get a key for what you purchased. And after all, your version won't expire when the Steam Version is released. You can play this game as many times as you wish.

Let me give you an example.
Let's say, you bought the Indie Royale bundle that gives Millennium.
You get a link to download the game (you can play, as you said, the game as many times you want). When the game will be greenlit (which it did), the bundle gives you an code to redeem the game on Steam.
I supported the developer and yet I don't have the same 'rights' as other gamers who didn't directly downloaded the game from the aldorlea site.

No, of course not. Again, you can't expect getting download codes for any platform a game is released at. You can't purchase a game here and then go ahead and as well download it on Steam and Big Fish and wherever else it's been published. Like you can't purchase a game on Steam and get additional download codes for any other platform. Or purchase it on BFG and get additional codes.

Indie Royale and Groupees are receiving (as a part of their agreement with the dev) Steam keys. No "big plot twist" there, it's written in the contract.
And they manage it themselves, we give them the keys (automatically generated), and they take care of sending them. It's not time consuming on my side.

Why? Just because someone disagrees with you?
I don't think what I said was insulting in any way. I just insisted on my opinion, like you did too. That happens when people discuss different points of view.
Pardon me, but a reaction like that is not quite adequate. (Imho)

@Cassi
I don't think your post was at all insulting. It's unfortunate that Sivylla reacted like that, but you shouldn't blame yourself.
