The thread title says what this is about. I've nowhere near finished yet, so it's not a review, but I didn't want to wait until then to say what a truly great game I think this is.

I love the originality of the story, and the non-standard characters that I've got so far. Already I can see their individual personalities coming through, so I'm being drawn into what's happening to them, as well as the fact that the story is exciting in itself. The quality of the dialogues keeps getting better and better. Exploration is - as always - so worthwhile. Discovered secret/hidden places, lots of goodies, quests, all the things that I enjoy about exploring. If it's anything like previous games, I know I'm going to miss stuff, (grits teeth - how I would love to get all the side quests first time round! I'd feel so smug!) but that's part of the fun of the replays. Maps are beautiful, and the towns are so different to each other! I'm fed up playing games (from some other developers, not from here) where it's impossible to know where you are because everywhere looks the same. Playability is excellent, and it's good to see "teleport" skill back again after such a long time. Won't know until I'm finished how it compares overall with TBOL and LF, but it's definitely shaping up as a strong contender.

Thanks Indy.

Moonchild - Initial impressions!!

Indy,
You have done something quite unique with Moonchild! I remember a
couple of years ago, you wondered if perhaps you should trying
doing a "simpler" game, but decided against it at the time. Well,
you have now done a superb job of doing just that! The entire
"scope" of Moonchild is different from what we normally see
from you! The art, story, and music are fantastic, but that
is what we always see from you, and part of the reason you're
the top creator of RPGs. What is different here, is that quests
are shorter and easier to complete, though I am starting with
"easy mode" as I always do. Hidden objects are simpler to find,
and there is overall less "frustration" in the game.

Though I am a "veteran" now with such games, Moonchild is going
to entice a whole new generation!! Younger folks, or people
just beginning their life as "questers", will find this the
PERFECT games to start out!! You'll be "hooking" a much larger
audience than ever before, and once started, they will want to
go forward with all your other games!!

Moonchild was not promoted quite as much as usual with your
releases, and you may not have considered it one of your
"larger" projects, but Indy, I believe you have done something
quite miraculous here! Whether purposefully, or unknowingly,
you have just made a "treasure chest" for Aldorlea. This is
one that BFG will "snatch up", as they do cater to a larger,
younger clientele. And I don't think you'll even need my
proofreading skills, as the English is quite good!!

I'm not through yet, but felt I needed to let you know how
surprised and impressed I am! Bravo Maestro, you have just
conducted a symphony!!

I must cherish every moment, for it soon will rush away
And be lost to me forever, as a part of yesterday

Thank you very much!! +::clap

Promotion will kick in - just have had little time lately and not being on my office comp doesn't help.
The game is not as big as TBOL or LF but I gave it my best, as with all my games. I hope the plot, characters and gameplay will fulfill all your expectations! :) 8)

@Titaness - You NAILED IT! +::Thumbup

Went just over 12 hours straight and NOT DONE YET! +::lol Finally had to stop cause I was going around in circles with *double vision* from this all-day-nighter-wee morning! Just COULDN'T STOP!

Indy, I've been raving about playing this in an daze, but...it's TRUE! The game is running sooooo smoothly, the music is so in tune with what or where I happen to be or need to do, the graphics are amazingly different, the mazes +::lol can't decide which direction I want to tackle first, and the story with this eclectic bunch is superb! +::kiss I love this explore, explore, explore! +::biggrin The quests, so far, I may be able to complete (HA! Think I know what to put in that bowl...if I can find something else first +::shhhh ). Also just love those visible monsters, so I could dodge them until I was ready to tackle them  That teleport feature is great, but I really really really like the *talk* for my *senior moments* +::biggrin I haven't jumped yet...but I feel it coming  And now that I'm a bit rested, I can go back to the black castle maze again +::biggrin

Nuh uh...not me yet, cuz I need to re-play this game with all it's bells and whistles alive in my brain and not *punchy and loopy* from deprived sleep  I may even find some quests I missed ;) To top it off, I get to see if anything new will pop out...which will probably happen cause I know I missed stuff +::biggrin
