I'm pretty sure that Jack couldn't allow Lord Jack to win, no matter what - otherwise his pride would suffer horribly.

I would say he was arrogant but not cruel. He would play fair in a fight but not give any leeway. If he did lose, he would accept it gracefully not maliciously. and he would accept the same from opponents. He would need a woman to be able to match him, but not dominate him.
