Pit of Infinity (spoiler)

Pit of Infinity (spoiler)

Postby Tyrellias » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:36 pm

I don't know if it's because I put Marine on Provoke Monster, but the the Pit of Infinity frustrates me to no end.

First run with the Bear and Blondie:
Average of a fight every 1-3 steps... ARGH.

End result: Blondie lv98 and Bear lv94

And I have to do it three other times? I'll run out of patience at this rate. To be honest, up to this point it felt more like a chore to me than a hellish training. Don't get me wrong, this is the first dungeon in the game that I don't like (too linear) and I wonder if it's a good idea to run through it 4 times. Unless the second path is different and so on?

There *are* a lot of fights down there - it is supposed to be the most dangerous place in the whole of Myst after all. That said, I finished it in Hard Mode with the Bear at level 79, though I tested it with visible encounters!

The second party is with Marine - so you can change her Hide or Fight skill so she stops provoking the monsters, it will definitely decrease the encounter frequency!

As to running through it 4 times - consider it like a trial everyone has to go through, sort of like a right of passage to reach the showdown! In LF3 you also had the Kondler Trial. The Pit of Infinity works along the same lines!

But why not stop provoking the monsters? Also escape the ones you don't like (and that are not too fast). ;)

The second run was far less annoying. I guess Butcherosaurus just hate The Bear...
And I could not stop provoking the monsters because I could not control Marine at the time.

P.S. I never escape a fight unless it's a game requirement.

Beginning last run.

Advices for this hell:
Salome's Care skill can heal the whole party for free after battles
Butcherosaurus - Make them blind, tired, BLEED whenever you can
Train Benoit's hand skills
Jeanne can cure most status ailments
Abu can cure most status ailments

Balanced parties!

You DON'T want your final party to be Karine, Jack, James and Wolfgang.

A good tactic is to use great party members during the trip, and before the end put the worst in your party in order to get rid of them first. +::biggrin

Yeah Salome with the Earring of the Seven Seas can free heal, get rid of Poison/Pox and give a resistance boost. And Meditation is only 1 MP :)

Is the Pit your last chance to level up?Bear is already level 99 but his hands are level 5.Should i linger until he gets to level 6?

I should say that Pit of Infinity+Bear, equals great fun so far (on easy mode). +::biggrin
He counters hits,he can one-hit kill the Butcherosaurus or the giant spider(?) that gives 50000 xp,he avoids most hits and when he gets hit he barely gets a scratch!I can't wait for him to kick Merryl's ass!!! 8)

You're saying that because it's the Bear and you're on Easy Mode. I'm on Hard Mode and had no problems with Bear but now I'm with Marine's party, took Hirado, James and Wolfgang and god those Butcherosauruses just don't DIE! +::grrr +::grrr +::grrr

They are powerful, I mean, they never die but they never kill either... They only hit like 300-400 only... :(

Oh and if you want to, I guess but I wouldn't bother :)
