A few things:

Switching to Normal mode for The Showdown is, well, problematic, because it interferes with players'choice. But I understand that proper tuning of the fights would just be plain impossible without it.

What happens to all the collected orbs? Are they automatically traded for the stats when entering the tournament? Because unless I'm forgetting something, there's no way how to do it manually.

I believe that not allowing the equipment changes between the three Pit of Infinity runs is unnecessarily unforgiving.

When two countering characters fight and counters limit is reached, some weird things occasionally happen next round - such as countering other character or not attacking at all.

There is a way to trade orbs, in the Western Beach, there is a path down. Follow it all the way down to reach a woman who can trade your orbs.

Yup, the motivation behind switching everyone to Normal Mode was being able to tune the showdown.

And yes I noticed odd behaviors too with counterers but hey, as long as it doesn't crash the game lol

not a pity, it was a gameplay-breaker lol

It was fun. And Salome wasn't exactly overpowered, even when attacking twelve times.

hmm with a mp healing item, she was surely very efficient, save against the countering enemies.

There was one main reason why it was so useful - getting Salome's Bare Hands Skill level to 6 was easy this way.
Btw, speaking of glitches, with the right equipp you can get SP cost of Salome's CARE spell down to 0 thanks to the rounding to whole numbers.
