Multiple Endings

Multiple Endings

Postby littlebro » Wed Jan 08, 2014 9:42 am

I experimented with leaving The Wasteland twice to see what would happen. So sad! So that's obviously the 'bad' ending. But I'm wondering if there is more than one 'good' ending?

The wording on the scrolling text at the end which tells you what happens afterwards seemed to imply that because I had completed Quest #3 things were going to be more or less fully okay. Has anyone finished who didn't complete that Quest, and if so, what happens?

Also it's clear that the amount of money you finish with has a big impact on what Marcus, Bastien and Fela can do in the future. I finished with loads of money, so I think they were able to do everything. Has anyone finished with not much, and if so did it sound like they wouldn't be able to do everything?

Nah, the 'bad' ending is what happens if you leave The Wasteland twice. I made an extra save file when I entered there and just went out twice to find out what happened.

What you mention is, as far as I can see, unavoidable. It's going to happen no matter what. And actually, logically I don't see another way for them to stop The Wasteland.

What I was referring to was the future for Shurland. The way the ending is worded I think it's dependent on doing a particular side quest. If you do it Shurland recovers more or less fully. So it seems logical to me that if you don't, things cannot be as good in the future.

When you get to the end, and before the Credits, there's some scrolling text telling you what happens after the events in the game. I was going on what I saw there.

Oh that. I didn't get to read it all, it was scrolling too fast.

Right! It really should be slowed a bit...

I don't know, is it possible that it scrolls faster when auto-dash is activated?

Unfortunately this is not the reason. I don't use auto-dash and the text scrolls hell-quickly without my intervention, darn!

(Kes, are you reading? Maybe it could be nice to slow down the text a bit +::biggrin )

I am reading it, and noting what you say.

It's a tricky balancing act. Too slow and those players whose first language is English will possibly complain about it dragging, too quick and those who don't have English as their first language may find it too fast. I'll see if it can be tweaked a bit more.

I propose a poll to count native and non-native English players !!

That wouldn't help much as well. Maybe a choice before the credits?

Could you expand it bit on that? I'd like to get it right for future games, but I don't quite understand what you mean by having a choice.

Maybe this means proposing a choice to the player (like: do you want slow or fast scroll?) just before showing the text.

Anyway I don't think that native English will complain a lot if the ending titles are slowed a bit.

Do you remember the opening titles of "Star Wars?". This is the perfect speed IMHO +::biggrin
