I've collected the first 4 quests. I couldn't find Rendal before leaving for the forest. Glitch or do I have to go back? Also, I found the book but nothing to make the kids fast or the Urchon dust. Any tips? Or have I not gotten far enough? I went back to my save right before the wolf battle and I have one before going to the forest.

You should have found Rendal before going to Durlling Woods. You won't find him after - the quest is about him visiting his grandma the next day and Durlling Woods is a week later.

The other 2 cannot be completed this soon.

They are all new conscripts. We know from grandpa that Rendal is a soldier.

I found it really important to pay attention to the dialogues. There are lots of clues if you do. And there's one quest in particular that you will miss completely if you don't notice what you are told.
