So, we can choose playing as a hero or as a girlfriend, right? How does this work?

Nope, you do not "play" the girlfriend. But you can give her the name you want.

Nope but upon finishing the game, you get bonus characters (ala Dreamscape) and new modes are also unlocked.

I see, I misunderstood the ... or maybe... you? (if you're a guy, that is) part.

You mentioned Dreamscape. Is GR similar to it, i.e. more story / puzzle driven, with minimum of sidequests?

I meant that you can sort of play as yourself by renaming the hero (whose name is Dan) to your own name.
And then you can invite your friends to join! :D
And then you can go after your real life girlfriend or love interest!

Nope, it's more like a rogue-like game. Very few puzzles. It's kinda a crossover between an RPG and a Beat 'em up.
It has a lot of characters to play with and a lot of innovative skills and items.
It's similar to Dreamscape in the way it unlocks bonuses and new modes each time you complete the game and like Dreamscape you can complete it with no healing for better end bonuses.

No healing? I expect it to be very challenging in the hardest mode, then...

Well you CAN receive healing if you want.
And I'm talking about inn-type healing. There are plenty of other ways to get healed lol

I just purchased GR and started playing, beat the boss in the tower after Detroit (forgot name of boss) and now I keep getting a crash detected error ENOENT: No such file or directory - Graphic/Characters/Faces/ with a bunch of other info and now can't continue. Please help!
