So, I've got the orb from Narlisa Shrine, but when I visit Fredar I can't hand it over. Is there something else I'm missing? I thought maybe I needed to have Eloabeth in the party so I tried that but nothing happens.

Did you actually collect the quest from her? Check in your Quest Journal. If you didn't you might be able to do this


If the quest is already in your journal, which objectives are in white and which are in green?

Check out a nearby shrine.
Search Narlisa shrine thoroughly.

In white:

Take the Orb to Fredar.

The Geomancer's orb shows up in my inventory, and I did speak to Fredar and get the quest before I went to the shrine.

No, not dim at all; Windows does not make it easy to find. I'll give you the full location, and then explain a couple of things. First, check the number of the save file that you want to find. then navigate your way to this folder:

C:\users\your name\AppData\Roaming\The Tale of a Common Man In that last folder, you will find all the save files. Attach the one you are looking for to your email.

"your name" = whatever user name you have for your computer.

AppData is what is called a "hidden" folder, so if it is not displayed, what you have to do is:

In Control Panel, find Folder Options. It might be a bit tricky to find, so if necessary, just put it in 'Search' and it will come up.
Click 'View'
Under Advanced Settings, click 'show Hidden files, folders & drives'

Microsoft made this very counter-intuitive actually. Their usual standards, I'd say.

I am in the exact same situation! Activated the quest (in my journal), went and got the orb, returned to Fredar and nothing happens with the orb when I talk to her - it just opens to the place where I can buy supplies from her. Quest journal is the same - green for the getting orb part and white for the delivering it.
