Switch for Stairs in Pirates' Store

I am having a lot of trouble finding this switch. I bought the guide but it is not all that helpful. I have clicked, double-clicked, used the arrow keys and enter key on every spot possible. I have tried about 15 times. Can somebody tell me exactly where the switch is? Or is there a glitch here?
