So is there no way from within the game itself to tell which one had chosen? A bit like it tells you which difficulty mode you picked. Because if I can't remember/work out what I did this time, how do I know what to pick next time to have a different choice, and so a different strategy to try out?

I think there is a fairly obvious way to know the alignment of a character, once you know the game well enough...

I can't be sure, because the Status page doesn't tell me, but if I remember correctly, I picked 'yes' for Annie and no for Soleil. Soleil has 'Star Onction' and I think I've seen a post saying that is what she gets if no astrology. I have no memory of being asked for Mick and Jack, so I really couldn't tell you. If I was asked, it was so indirect I never noticed.

Deffo have the option with Mick and Jack i remember that and i picked Yes for all 4 of em and then spotted in the guide it should have been No for Annie and No for Soleil and Yes for Mick and Jack.I guess the motto is read the guide before you start But ive had no probs so far

Before we start, for each playable character, you will be asked to choose whether or not they are aligned on Astrology.
Here is what is recommended to pick for all characters:
 Annie (this is the « Do you believe in Astrology » question at the very beginning of the game, Virgo): no astrology
 Soleil (Cancer): no astrology
 Mick (Libra): astrology
 Firey Jack (Scorpio): astrology
Of course, feel free to make your own experiments, as some other combinations might prove great or even better, but this is a pretty safe and balanced one. There are in theory ups and downs for all combinations, and no choice is really « bad » per se.

Well, with a yes for Annie and an unknown for Jack and Mick, my party seem to be doing very well. I've got all 7 Legends, did the extra fight at the Arena against all the Arena Champions and so on. But I'm only part way through the last dungeon, so there's still time for things to go wrong. But the combination seems to work.

I think it is, though, in part how you allocate the spells you get as a result of actions in the game that can make the difference. When I killed the Gum Dragon, I gave the skill Bubble Gum to Soleil. Definitely the right move. Then after fighting the picture, I gave Wicked Love to Annie and Perfumed Hearts to Soleil. Again that seems to be a good choice.
