Monks relic in ice caves

I have killed all the bosses. I have killed the group of Q's in the cave to the left of a boss cave many times but they have never dropped the relic. I have the walk through and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

I assume that the first time you fought the boss Qs you got the Stolen Idol. (quest from one of the monks).
You have to return the idol to him first, and then you can return to the Boss Qs to fight them again for the relic.
