Titaness's book

Re: Titaness's book

Postby Ladybug » Tue Oct 27, 2009 4:55 pm

Hi guys!
I split this topic as it was no longer referring to our Oracle's book anymore and moved the remaining posts to the "The talking place!" in a new topic named "Life as it is/was..." - somehow the title seemed appropriate! Feel free to continue your talk there!
Any more posts regarding Titaness's book are however most welcome here!
Maybe even a few excerpts (if Titaness is up to it) would be nice!!! :)

Well, keeping in mind I'm a nurse the following is an example of taking an elderly,
incontinent man to the bathroom. Hope this isn't inappropriate to post!! +::fear
....As these gentlemen are in something of a hurry, the nurse may wish to assist
a bit. Assuming the zipper was closed on arrival, you can help his fumbling fingers
find the opening. Or, more practically, you can do the deed yourself. Then, the
race is on. You will probably have to fish around for a while to find the "catch of
the day." Hopefully it will not be a "bonefish" as these rigid specimens are more
difficult to haul out. Whoever invented those absurd holes in men's briefs to stick
it through must have been crazy. It's so much easier to just go over the top of the
underwear. Hopefully, the majority of the "water" will end up in the toilet. It is
very polite, and appreciated, if you give that worm a little wiggle afterwards in
case any stray drops are still hanging on. Be careful not to catch the adorable
creature in the zipper when escorting it to its home. +::lol +::lol

A list of things to do!

Postby titaness » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:52 am

Here is another excerpt from my book.... Memory loss comes in all sizes and
shapes and we develop helpful ways of dealing with it. By far, the most popular
is list-making. But, since we feel a sense of relief when it's on the list of things to do,
months could pass before you actually accomplish the task. You justify this to yourself
by saying...It's on my list of things to do! One must be particularly careful when working
from a list of chores. You may begin cleaning in one area, and decide to transport some
junk to another equally inappropriate place. There, you spy an object that would really
work better in a different room. So, THERE you go. Then when you get there, you feel
compelled to do a bit of straightening up there. One could flit back and forth from
location to location without accomplishing anything! Well, just put it on a new list
of things to do! It is also common to misplace this lifesaving list. Perhaps we should make
a list of places we may have put the list of things to do. You might make a new list, but
add or delete some particular entry. Then of course you locate the other list. Sometimes
you come upon several diffent lists you made of places to hunt for lists of things to do, and then
aren't quite sure what you are supposed to do!! The same principle applies to other lost
items, with keys being the winner in this category. Before you search francically for them,
you may want to make a list of places you have already looked for them!

Well, sorry you didn't like it, but everyone is entitled to their opinion +::cry It is really
written for people in southern America, and I figured it wouldn't transfer well to other
languages. It probably can be appreciated more by older folks , too. But, being an eternal
optimist, I'll just try to think about the fact that it gave me pleasure to write it, if not for
you to read it!! :)

I can really relate to the lists! Only I use the computer and set things to do! Then when they pop up, I change the date to do them! Eventually I get tired of the pop ups and go ahead and do them! +::biggrin
Keep on writing, Titaness! I still want the book!! +::clap

I laughed till I almost wet myself. I've been doing the list dealy for a number of years now. I can't wait for your book, Titaness. OBTW I sent the Dementia Quiz you emailed me to all my cousins (I being the youngest at 53) and my brother. They loved it!

That is hilarious and I like your witty style of writing. Let me know when it is published (whatever format) and I will definitely purchase the book. Keep on writing and sharing, you have a lot of valuable insights and humour. :)

I hope this not a very late reply.

Well some excerpts were just hilarious to death. Can we get some more?
