Well I dunno about that...
It's strange because the man who gives you the shovel makes it quite clear that he wants you to return it, and Sara mentions that we are not thieves, we are heroes or something like that.
So I find it strange that Indy didn't allow the player to return the shovel, after making all this dialog about not stealing the shovel and returning it.
