It's one of the hardest first dungeons I've ever seen, yes. It's also one of the *best* first dungeons I've ever seen. It gets interesting right from the start.

(You know, in Phylomortis : Avant-Garde the first battle against a slime was as hard as a boss fight, and the first dungeon was a rather twisted tower where you had to solve really tough control panel puzzles involving triangle rotations and stuff like the Fibonacci sequence. The monsters were very tough, too. So there are probably "first" dungeons that can beat the Mosquito Swamp in terms of difficulty, but... not in commercial games? )

Clarification : Of course LP3 wasn't commercial, but since most "classic" console-type RPGs *are* commercial, I was simply implying that the Mosquito Swamp is indeed harder than many, many first dungeons.

I agree with ShadowBlade about Mosquito Swamp song. I don't like oppressive ambients in games (I'm such a chicken) so I didn't like this dungeon.. But I have to admit that it's pretty well thought and done
