nononono i should have been clearer in the game lol
it's 10 steps MINIMUM
so it's anything from 10 to 200 I guess

In fact it works as such. You have 10 steps (or 16 or 26 lol) without any monster for sure, and then at the 11th (or 17th or 27th lol) the usual random encounter as seen in most rpgs kicks in.

Yup! Sometimes I could pass through an area without encountering any monster. That would be a small monster though. And it really helped me level up. I remember I chose hard with maniac rate... 3 Stars is an easy game though. LF is tougher.

LF was always meant to be more hardcore.
And Millennium is the most mainstream/casual of them.

Millennium is average. What I like is easy monsters,but hard bosses. And there should be lots of bosses. But they shouldn'T be like,face the boss,go to the next screen,go to the next screen,face another boss. I felt like that when travelling in Mt.Zulle in LFIII. There were a lot of Snow Monsters.
