promotions, orbs, guild teachers

i was wondering if it makes a difference if you do these things earlier or later in the game. even though you can get a promotion at lev 20 do you get a better bonus on your stats if you wait til you're a higher level? if you pay to have the guild teachers teach you will you get a better stat increase at higher levels? and does it make a difference how many stat points you get when you trade in a few orbs as compared to a large amount of orbs or does it all equal out in the end no matter how you trade them in? the first time playing i did all these things pretty late in the game, but this time i wanted to get some of them earlier to help me out. but if i'll benefit a lot more by waiting then i dont want to lose out. thanks!

I'm not quite sure myself... but one thing I know, in the Magic Guild it is better to complete the 70 Orbs of Magic quest before paying the 1000 gold to upgrade any of your characters as the price is reduced by half afterwards! :)

Also you can get better promotions if you have certain items. I know I could make Karine a baroness when I had seal of the oak (I think it was)

One thing that I do know, they are shared between the characters in your party....

With regard to promotions

I used the seal of the orbs to get promotions.

Has anyone used the "Hatchet of Ancients" to see what type of promotion is offered.

I cannot remember where I obtained the hatchet of ancients but I have it.

I thought it came from one of the Animal Kings. I don't really know for sure though.

i had it before promoting karine, benoit and hirado. i did'nt get any other promotion choices for any of them. i had already promoted marine so i dont know if it does anything for her. the tiger king fight gives you "Hatchet of Ancients".

these are the notes i made for myself about promotions:

---for marine---
shiva - will raise her STR and RES, extra HP, and lets her make a random second hit.
wild goose - will raise her SPD, gives extra HP (more than with shiva)
spirited soul - will raise her RES and MND, gives extra SP

(i've only gone with shiva so i dont know if wild goose and spirited soul also give her an extra hit or some other extra)

---for Karine---
baroness - gave her increased STR, RES, & MND, and extra HP(more than with bounty hunter)
bounty hunter - gave her increased STR(more than with baroness), and extra HP

(to get baroness you need the tablet 'seal of the oak'. the tablet 'hatchet of ancients' does'nt give an extra promotion choice for her)

---for hirado---
holy vicar - will increase his RES and MND and will give him the spell AURA(heal 40 HP all)
body master - will increase his ATK and RES

---for benoit---
hand master - gives him higher ATK, STR, & RES

I'll bet that Hatchet of Ancients is something used in a later Episode. However I will have it before I promote anyone next time so we'll know if it helps Marine.

Well I completed normal mode without using any orbs or promotions as I wasn't sure what to use +::O_o

So I have a saved game ready for BOTM2 (or MM2 if you prefer to call it this)

Oh also I haven't sold anything except where I had more than 2, as I wasn't sure what I would need later on +::biggrin

I will also do the same in hard mode which I am currently playing and levelling before picking up Karine.

Maybe later I'll try using promotions to see if they m ake that much difference to me.

After finishing the game again, the list that nekoyasa posted is all of the promotions that I could come up with. I have two Seal of the Oaks, the Hatchet of Ancients, and I even kept the Orb of Valor just in case it did double duty and gave extra promotion skills.

Because of something Indy said about the 13 person battle and magic not being used, I promoted Hirado to Body Master the second time. The aura spell is very nice to have but the Body Master give him extra HP and well as Atk and Res. I figure he will need that more in a one on one battle than I need the Aura spell to make playing the game easier. Just my thoughts.
