Status effects: Vertigo and Boredom

What exactly do these statuses do to the characters. I know you can use the Mountain Cane for the Vertigo - but is there anything that prevents Boredom?

Both Vertigo and Boredom decrease your stats (attack, defense, etc.) considerably. There are two items, I believe, that prevent Boredom:

- the Fractal Headphone - you get it as a reward from the 70 Orbs of Magic quest
- the Hero Key - you get it after defeating the Golem King (which you can only do if you're playing in either normal or hard mode)
Apart from this, you'll just have to rest (or die! ) in order to recover! Hope this helps!

Speaking of that cane, I was wondering if simply having one in my inventory is enough to prevent Vertigo, or do I actually need to equip it? Do I also need one for everyone in the party?

I just got to the mountain yesterday, but I havn't had a chance to try this out.
