What exactly do I do with this file? When trying to open I get error message: "an unknown error has occurred."

Try dowloading my save: http://www.mediafire.com/?kiggdssh7kc99gz

NOTE: If you already has a save in Slot 1, I advise that you change the slot number by renaming the file.

Paste in this place:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[your name]\Application Data\Millennium_Saves

Windows Vista/Windows 7:
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Millennium_Saves

The folders may be hidden, you may need to unhid them.

I have your file downloaded, but all I get is an error message when trying to open it. Yes, I feel really stupid when things don't work the way I want them to.

You don't need to open it! Because it can't be opened!
Right click on the file, press copy, go to the folder D-Squall mentioned then paste it!

Well, I'm getting closer. I got it to the place you told me, but when I open the game, nothing will import.

If you downloaded my savefile, you must paste on MM_Saves because it's BEFORE entering that cave in the end of Millennium and BEFORE saving to import. Put on MM_Saves, load from the savefile, enter the cave, after the ending credits save and start Millennium 2 choosing the Import option.

I appreciate your help and patience D-Squall and Loof, but it can't be this hard and even worse, I cannot be this stupid. After a lot of hair pulling, I figured out what you told me and the file has been pasted into the folder ( there weren't any folders that came up and that was an ordeal in itself.) So, my last best guess is the game will not allow the transfer of save info and I will have to start MM3 from scratch.
