Can't equip Marine's left hand

Marine is at level12 at Festina. I bought canes but I cannot euip Marine's left hand. She currently has dark gloves which is shown in grey text. I can't remove them. I am not sure when this happened. Anything I can do other than start over?

Go to a temple (or shrine, not sure how they are called exactly) and ask the priestess to perform an exorcism.
