I see you dont like raisins. So...when the new years eve night come and we hear the twelve strikes...
what do you eat? +:oops:

We here have a tradition of eating 12 raisins.I think one for each month we are about to enter, or to give farewell to the old months of the old year in peace. +::kiss

I think white raisins may have a less strong flavour, but in the end they will still taste like raisins. Ehehe +::lol

I am also positive that here everyone puts the raisins in the newyears eve table to give good luck, but i dont think many eat them.
I myself didnt even count them, just picked a bunch of them from the table and ate it.
And i can say my cat played with one raisin for more than 2 hours before trying to hide it in one shoe! ehehehe. +::lol

I never heard of that raisin tradition before! Here in Austria we don't eat anything at midnight. We have different traditions. For instance we give each other little lucky charms. Things that are said to bring luck like little pigs, ladybirds, four leaf clover, chimney sweeps, mushrooms (fly amanitas, even though actually they are poisonous) and horseshoes.
Another tradition is lead-pouring. You can buy little lead bits (mostly in those lucky charm shapes I was just talking about) and at midnight on New Year's Eve you melt the lead on a spoon and pour it into cold water. What comes out is of course nothing but a shapeless piece of lead, but you now try to see a shape in it. And depending on what you see it will bring luck in the upcoming year.
