I first played Dreamscape 3 years ago and didn't like it very much. I remember that not being able to collect the restoratives made me nervous, but mostly I didn't find the dreams really "dreamy" and surreal.
Yet I decided to give the game another chance and this time I got hooked from the start. Since my first playthrough was in Utopia mode I got Saehral now and she was cool! Also this time I chose Ataraxia mode because I wanted it to be relaxing. And as a reward for not touching the crystal I chose the Health Catalyst which made me regenerate 25HP after each fight. That's a cool thing and a huge help.
Other than that I don't know what's been so different for me this time around, but I thoroughly enjoyed that game. It's bigger than I remembered and exploring all those dreams is just cool!
And I discovered that in fact the game has a huge replay value because of the new unlocked characters. Since there is just a certain amount of foes and none respawns, it's quite necessary to choose a party at the beginning and keep it till the end. Otherwise the characters never get fully levelled which might be a problem at the end in the Jailhouse cuz that's quite a tough part (even in Ataraxia).
So the game can be replayed with various different parties, each a different gaming experience.

It might be a bit late, but still: Indy, congrats on a really great game!

I believe DSC to be a pretty nifty gaming experience and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much this time round.

Never too late, that's true!

I loved DSC, too - a truly memorable experience. But it's probably the love it or hate it type of game, because (especially on higher difficulties) it can be extremely hard to finish.

well that would be the same for all my games though...
if you can't play it in hard mode, just take it easy (pun intended )

@ Tomas - I'm usually playing all my games in Normal Mode. Since there are four modes in DSC I started out with Utopia. Then replayed on Ataraxia. And then got Marine! No way I could NOT replay yet again with her! And that's what I'm doing now, and in Dream Mode. It sure is much harder now than it was on Ataraxia, but I'm getting along quite well. Recovering 25HP after each fight helps me a lot and still I hardly need any restoratives.
This will change in the Jailhouse though, lol. Depending on how nuts I'll go there I MIGHT consider playing in Nightmare Mode. And that would be a premiere for me!

@ Indy - but especially in this game taking it easy all the time would be a pity because of the new charas that can be unlocked!

Btw, I like how the names of modes corespond well with the "dreamy" setting of DSC. It's cool.

DSC was one of the best for me, also one of the hardest to complete everything. BTW Cassie, is this your first time playing the game fully?

True Nightmare? Is there even something harder to come?
Well, I'll be glad if I ever finish it in Nightmare. I'm usually not the one to play an RPG for the fights. They are just part of the whole thing. I never play Easy Mode, but Normal Mode is mostly just right for me. I'm only doing this now because I want to unlock the next character.

@ DS - no, I first played it 3 years ago in Utopia Mode. Now I'm just replaying in the other modes.
