Is there a thought as to which character each would be better replacing in the lineup?

For example, does Marine replace Peeboo or Clochette or Athena?

Same with the other 4 characters.

I'm not talking fight wise so much but equipment wise. It doesn't do a lot of good have a really strong character if you don't have equipment for them because another character needs it too.

That's the right thinking, but I think depending on your strategy you are the one meant to answer to this question.

I want to know if I have to use the unlocked characters to unlock Hell Mode after I play through the whole game.

If I don't use Saehral for example when I play hard mode and use Athena instead do I still unlock the final game with Hell Mode playable. This is just an example. I may for instance want to use Clochette instead of Piu.

The party you choose has nothing to do with how to access Hell World.

I found a really strange glitch. You know that the people that aren't in the active party die when you go through the electrical lines. Well I am playing hard mode with all of the new characters and no one can equip the Hammer of Justice.

Athena is dead because I went through an electrical line. So I go and heal Athena, equip the Hammer of Justice on her and go to break silver rocks.

I take Athena out of the party to let Megapiu get the level up from an onion and when I get to the next silver rock, I forget the change to party back so Athena can break the rock. But I don't need to put Athena back in the party, because the rock broke without Athena in the party as long as she had the Hammer of Justice equipped.

Is this the way the game was designed, or ?????

Do I have to keep Athena alive for it to work???

I also noticed that inactive party members got hit by electrical lines, but I considered this to be intentional, so that the player couldn't avoid the damage by simply changing party.

But if you don't use those party members for whatever reason, they are all level 1. Which means they have very little HP and one time thru the electricity and Pffffftttt they're gone. That's fine for the character's you don't have to use but if you can't break rocks without Athena and you can't exit with Clochette and you just happen to be somewhere where there is no bread or apple or whatever, what do you do? You can't go somewhere and heal Athena and go back to the place with the rocks because you have to cross the electric lines to get back to them.

And she's dead by the time you can get back to them.

I am a little lost.

Someone said somewhere on the board that an original nightmare is necessary to unlock hell mode. So we can't choose our party because no hidden characters are available.

Obviously the inactive party members should be treated as active ones, not only for damage, but also for experience and stats boosts and so on, otherwise it doesn't make sense.
