Maybe you should make it up to the player just like you do with the encounter rate let the player choose which they want
at the beginning of the game.

Personally I think visible encounters are best. This is because when you are looking for something or someone and you keep getting stopped sometimes after only two paces, it can become very frustrating.
I do think the touch of having a choice within the game though is pretty much a master stroke and satisfies everybody.
I think the worst game for invisible encounters and may prove the point was Deadly Sin 1.
Random encounters to become involved in long and complicated battles?
The battle system in Deadly Sin was fine and I enjoy the way the spells etc had to be selected and I didn't mind the long battles but not suitable in my opinion for random encounters.

I voted visible but right now I changed my mind and want invisible.
BTW in visible mode, will it be like LF where most monsters respawn after you leave the screen or Dreamscape where the monsters don't respawn???

I personally like invisible monsters. I like being "caught off guard" and not expecting or seeing what is coming up. I like to be surprised with an all out attack on the party without any notice. To me searching for things and fulfilling quests and all of sudden being attacked is what I like to happen in an RPG.

I like living on the edge when I play an RPG. +::wizard

I voted visible. I like to be able to pick and choose whether or not I want to fight. I absolutely abore walking along looking for something and then *BAM* I'm stuck in another fight. One thing I've noticed - it seems that as I progress in a game where there are encounter rates, the rate seems to change and gets shorter from what I set it at so I really don't care for encounter rates. I got the demo for MM3 and set it for visible and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything in this game I really like so far. I never got all the way through MM1 and only just began MM2 and never went any further because I just couldn't get into constantly being attacked. I love having all the options that MM3 offers. This is an excellent game Indi! +::Thumbup +::clap +::YAY
