When is the last chance to do side quests?

I agree that there's something wrong with the fact that so many sidequests are impossible (esp. all involving Mt. Zulle) late in the game. Of course, in a game this huge, you probably can't do all the sidequests anyway, and sometimes you have to choose between mutually exclusive quests. But many players (including me) were trying hard not to miss quests unnecessarily, and we had no way of knowing when they would become inaccessible.

My gripe is specifically w/ the Guide, for which we pay extra. Why sell it when it is of abolutely no help with the sidequests? How difficult would it have been to include "last chance" markers, as in "This is your last chance to visit Mt. Zulle"?

My missing quests:
find all relics; even lowered to 12, I've only found 9.
thesis quest: I've updated my version yesterday but I don't want to go back. Maybe in my next replay.
rob oghma: I've done that but when I talk to zartzis he only asks me if I want to talk to the Lord.
Give orb to xavier: I haven't done that in LF II, not possible now.
Who killed sarah's parents? unsolved
rogue sharks: I haven't found their hideout
Lost gem: it's a time limited quest. I didn't find it with petula...
Arena wins: is it possible after global wars? not even wendala (lvl 90) can beat linda

1. See the list of relics I posted. Ask around in the forum - you can get 13

2. Thesis quest - you could solve it a few versions back itself, I reloaded an old save and did it.

3. Rob Oghma - there is an explicit offer from the Undead Guild to update to the next level or not. Don't take this option until after you complete the level 3 quests. This way you will get the quest complete, and then later, you can update to the next level, talk to the lord and get good boosts to the undeads in your party

4. Give Orb to Xavier -

5. Rogue sharks - I haven't done this myself, but puzzled reported that he could do it in one of the previous versions. Search the forum

6. Lost gem - ilsepants or Hannah Sage posted on how to do this

7. Wendala Arena win - something is wrong here, I could do this in LF2 itself at level 50-60. In LF3 - get the Mage Guild Combo. Just experiment till you use the right equipment and spells. For example, one of the relics in the Legendra Tower will give her 3000+ speed. Even Hondler used to miss hitting Wendala every time!
For other Arena wins, check puzzled's post. Although it is for easy mode, you can get 30 wins following the strategies outlined even in normal mode (I did it!)

8. Sarah's parents. Hmmn, this is possibly a LF-S quest

The way I see it, these complications only add to the fun when you replay. I'm playing LF1 now for the 4th or 5th time, and still I'm sure I'll miss a few things ...

Well I have a suggestion. Since some ppl who bought the guide say it doesn't help with sidequests maybe we could post an order to do the most possible ones.

I'll begin with the ones I remember

1- catch rare bird (time limited - chapter 10)
2- write thesis quest - (time limited) before first visit to kondler
3- report alchemy contest and cure plant. Don't report. Wait for the whole party or you loose the XP EGG Quest. I haven't done that, but ppl said it's a chapter 10 quest.
4- Damaus - (time limited) all quests must be done during visit (can't go back there)
5- Rogue Sharks - (time limited) must be done before finding the secret stairs to Adretana and Silver Eagle. Location: first cave. The one with the steps to the guild where you get the quest. At the bottom right of the screen. Walk in, be attacked, return to acqua guild and report.
6- Arena Tournament - for some charas it's time limited. Alexandra, if you don't choose to revive her. Aaron should win the arena before second visit to Kondler. He aappears at lvl 54, someone posted he can win at lvl 58. (I play normal mode, he's level 60 and still can't beat Linda). Yveen should win the arena tournament as well, iirc she's not available after wendie's death, but she toasts the enemys, no worries.
7- Sarah's lost gem - (time limited) first visit to kondler. Petula in the party. Second dock. She'll find the jewels and some gold near the girl who sells helmets.
8- Fire Guild Quests - (time limited) Before global wars
9- Not exactly a quest, but Alexandra gets 4MN from a fan in Eastern Lands. Dunno if she gets the bonus after revival.

5- Underwater - maybe someone could post a pic from the location of rogue sharks

This was the easiest one for me. The first cave. The one with the steps to the guild where you get the quest. At the bottom right of the screen. I walked in, they attacked me. I talked to the lady in the guild and she said thanks for returning our pets. She said 4 sharks but I only captured 2 and got a quest complete.

Actually, I just replayed this part to check and the quest does show complete in the log but you don't get a quest complete or get the reward points for completing it. But I have been over this place three or four times and no other sharks reached out and grabbed me so maybe the quest is broken slightly.

The rare bird and report alchemy I did in chapter 10 (Wendala) in fact.

I'm working my way through Chapter 10 again right now. I haven't reported the Alchemy Contest to Sandra yet because I'm waiting to see if that impacts the XP Eggs to all members "quest" from the items guy. I'll let you know if it does. Also, haven't healed the plant with Broff yet.

The XP egg quest goes away when you reach level 5 in the guild, so I waited to report it until I got Luciana and before leaving for Metrolia ruins (for the first time but still in Chapter 10) did the XP egg thing, then reported the contest, and went to level 5, then got the 15000 donation quest for new store. The Brain Dazzler is available as soon as you reach level 5 it is not dependent on the quest to give the money for the store. I *think* the XP eggs are affecting everyone though it just reports the XP for the party you use it on directly. So far no XP eggs for sale though and maybe Indy removed it from the game? I never saw them in my last play through...and checked all the time!

PS Then you have to wait to heal the plant with Broff until all the parties are re-united again (if you heal it first when you have Broff with Wendala and have all the other quests done it also makes you level 5 and you cannot do the XP egg quest because you do not have Luciana yet) hope this makes sense! So you cannot report the alchemy contest or heal the plant until you have Luciana and there is a small window still in Chapter 10 (Wendala and the pets) right before Chapter 11 and before heading to Mt. Zulle. You have to go do these quests right before Walz teleports to Metrolia and you end up in the ruins looking for the counter.

I don't think so. At least the one time I tried, they kept turning around and Luci kept saying the Airport is this way.
