I am in the cave with the toxic grandmas and I cannot get the gate to open to get in room with green flames on torches. All other grandmas are dead and the big bulls are dead. What am I mising?

No clue, perhaps with one of the characters after Aliener virus stage.

I tried all existing characters that might be relevant - all the pets, Rosa, Broff and Cindy, but no luck.

I think you get the key from Sandra in the mage guild, one of the quests?????? Not sure, so don't quote me on it.

Yes, you get the key from the mage guild once this quest is available. Until then, you won't be able to open it.

Ok, I got into the locked area using the Mage Guild key. I took care of the evil guy inside. But I can't find the Ohgma Guild?

Yes, I had the key to open the gate but no idea where I got it. Then a spoiler for finding Oghma....

Strangely enough it doesn't appear with me??
Cleaned out the rooms.....only the annoying ogre is left but no gate...went in the scorpio room, got the chest there but still nothing

that happened to me too...I found a dark room with a chest and that's all...

CHR1ST is right - you can try just before global war - it worked like that for me.
