In the walk through it said "There’s also a nice javelin which Luci can take after defeating the
monsters in the glass and receiving an Intelligence Seminar from the girl in the
area." I did this with Random,Sarah, Lucy and Yveen in my party but they can't get it. What am I doing wrong?

Can't get it meaning can't find it, or can't prise it out?
If the former, explore - there are boatmen / boatladies who take you to 2-3 different places.
If the latter, defeat the Ohgmor, and talk to the lady who told you about it - she will give you an INT seminary. Put other MN boosting items and equipment on Luci, she can take it out.
If you still can't, don't worry - the javelin is not a relic and nothing extraordinary.

I remember getting that from Laxius Force:Queen of Adretana. Do not remember what I did to get it. Probably lots of boosts and the mage guild may have helped also.
