Just finished the oasis pond quest with Daryl. When I ask the blue haired guy for a reward he offers me shoes, a ring, an apple or an ornament. When I choose shoes he gives me Athenia's Haste Shoes, which are - well, shoes. But when I choose the ring I also get the message to receive those shoes but in my inventory I get an Athenia's Stable Ring ........

How did you even get him to offer you a reward? When I completed the quest he just says he doubts it will work -_-

Yes, he told me this, too. That's because the flowers were still withered after cleaning the pond. Just leave the oasis and come back. The flowers now bloom again and the guy now is willing to reward you.
