And I'm finished! Chose what resulted in ending 6, replayed the last bit with a different choice and got ending 5. Both were satisfying, but I prefer my original choice.

I totally owned that guy because
Spoiler: show
I used my Clone Army scroll.

He didn't stand a chance. Plus, of course,
Spoiler: show
stunning play on my part. Actually, I must be honest, there was some luck in what I happened to choose to do which turned out well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. When I have some time I'll do a review.
Suffice to say at this stage that it is a game I would recommend to others.

Glad you liked it! I will say with all the side stuff you did the final fight is probably a breeze, as I went with the idea that the more you do outside the easier the battle becomes. I know some games level scale to avoid this, but I wanted your reward for doing all the side stuff to be an easier final battle.

BTW, I'll post the ending requirements in spoilers too for those who want to know and didn't buy the guide:

Spoiler: show
Ending 1: Have only 1 Entity, choose to let Josie store it in that Entity anyways.
Ending 2: Let Talia take on the power.
Ending 3: Blow up it
Ending 4: Have 2 of the 3 Entities, choose to let Josie store it in the two Entities.
Ending 5: Have all 3 Entities, choose to store the power in them.
Ending 6: Use the scroll.

since there are a lot of side quests ... what is the maximum number of side quests ? We know there are 50 secret rooms but how many side quests there are until chapter 9 ? So that we know when we got them all

The potion shop in Emberfield *should* sell them, but if not you'll get a way to get back there in Chapter 5 too via another method.

If they are not in the potion shop though let me know. I can add them when I do the weekend update.

What happens is I'll send an update to Indy on Thursday or Friday then they update the game. Once that happens redownload it from BMT Micro.

Thankfully no one's download link should have expired yet, so everyone should be able to get it.

I really like how NPCs change from chapter to chapter - from dialogue to moving to other places - they have their own lives and they move with the time the same like the heroes - I missed that in turn based rpgs - thank you for bringing this back .

Possible bug report : I sneaked in Vrylilumnartoulium in high town in chapter 5 (how you came up with that name is beyond me lol) ... the characters don't speak to you at all and when you try to enter places no dialogue pops up like in other places... it's like you are walking on a terrain when it's supposed to be an entrance - feels like a bug - that's available when you sneak through that fake pit on the ground - if you sneak through the swamp - that area is okay and the characters speak to you

Best line : " you are a human ... I bet you want to take me into that forest and do dirty things to me " +::biggrin

If I am in year 441 and I find an item that says it will be available in year 1341 ... that means never ?

You're welcome! NPC lines change every chapter (usually) though there are some exceptions.

The fake pit? Can you send a screenshot of that one as you should only be able to enter via the swamp and the forest trail.

BTW, what says 1341 for when it is available? That might be a typo as the year was 1341 until I redid the timeline to match the lore books better.

As promised, here is my review.

Overall view: I think this is a great game, with smooth game play, interesting battle system, plenty of optional content including side quests, secret rooms and optional dungeons, and good story.

To break that down a bit.

I liked the ability to swap characters during battle, so that if, for example, I discover when I actually see which enemies are in the troop that one of my existing characters is either weak to them, or doesn’t have an appropriate skill, I’m not stuck with them. Lots of skills to choose from – possibly too many? I know that each character had several skills which I never used. Maybe I lost out on some extra nice strategy, but I never felt disadvantaged by that. And, of course, other people, with a different style of play, might have chosen very different skills to me, so overall I don’t think it was a disadvantage, except when I struggled to remember who had which skill. Elements felt like an integral part of the design, instead of feeling tacked on, as it sometimes does. The balance was good and there were no huge difficulty spikes, except where (against all the warnings) I chose to go somewhere too soon. I did that on several occasions, and it was tough at times, but that was my choice, I didn’t have to.

I found that as long as I paid attention, the side quests were not too obscure to work out. Some, of course, were dead obvious, but others took some thinking and/or exploring to complete.

I didn’t get all the Secret Rooms, which is not surprising on a first play through. I got 47 out of 50, which is not at all bad. The visual hints given were a great help.

The story has some twists and turns, but it didn’t feel arbitrary. They were unexpected, but not off the wall. It was coherent, and alternated well between moments of tension and more light-hearted times. NPCs were not static, and there is a lot of background world lore if you want to read it. It felt like the world had a life of its own which began before the party arrives and will continue after them. That is something I like.

Each character (11 in all) felt very different in personality and skills. I personally never used Renee in battle, but she was the constant source of out of battle healing so that I could save items and the MP of the others for actual combat. I didn’t use Elliot much and Jarvis only a little more, but the others gave solid service, and at times it was difficult to choose who might be the best because they all brought something to the table.

Which brings me to my only quibble. As I said, the characters were great, as characters, but they never changed at all. I know that happens in lots of games, but take ‘Shadows and Lies’. Those who’ve played it will know that the characters do develop, they grow over the course of the game. That’s the sort of thing I like to see.

Anyway, to end on a positive note – I recommend this game to anyone who likes a good story, exploration, side quests and optional content. It’s a long game if you do everything, though you don’t have to. But if you do, you get an awful lot of game play for your dollar.
