I finished 60 hours with characters levels 62-69, with the exception of Garsi who was at Lvl 73, but that's because I forgot to unequip a bonus leveling accessory.

I`ve finished it the 3th time I really love the game), and my team: Chrysal - 56 lvl, Steven - 67 lvl, Jasper - 57 lvl and Salanthronos - 54 lvl, normal mode.

That's awesome you finished it a 3rd time :) I'm glad you like the game this much +::YAY

That team is interesting. I usually used Mathias and always used Krantz on all my teams because of all the extra turns between them. These 4 characters you picked have interesting abilities, Steven especially. Do you mind sharing your strategy with this team? I really liked Chrysal's team support abilities as well.

I would switch characters in and out depending what I was fighting sometimes (and on different playthroughs), but I usually used Mathias, Krantz, Garreth and Vol Baidar/Chrysal (or Ange later in the game).

I tend to play using a more emotional rather than strategic approach. My preferences are
1. The protagonist
2. The main supporting characters (usually by arrival)
3. A latecomer only if that character has something extremely beneficial to add

My party facing Bazael was
Matthias - Medic's Scalpel, Faith Shield, Comb Marion Helmet, Dragonscale Armor, Adventurer's Spirit
Krantz - The Scourge, Deflecting Buckler, Dense Great Helm, Night Mail, Beserker's Ring
Scarlet - Demon's Bane, Chronoshield, Conquistador Helmet, Cloak of the Deranged, Skin Yarn
Ange - Dragonstaff (only for the fire protection, otherwise she is equipped with The Gibb), Chronoshield, Infinity Circlet, Enchanted Robes, Silk Rope

I tried to keep Garreth, but he just had nothing to add either offensively or defensively, so I went with Scarlet. And Ange, well, she's a goddess, so of course she gets to participate in the final battle.

With Krantz equipped with The Scourge and just spamming relentless assault, there's really little need for anyone else, except for the support. Matthias was pretty much relegated to tantra and tactical stance to sustain the party's TP and to prevent/remove debuffs and status ailments suffered by Krantz. Scarlet had some pretty good healing abilities herself and, if no healing/curing needed, she could get a couple of decent whacks in. Ange was the primary HP healer of the party. In all honesty, if Krantz weren't so susceptible to HP loss/debuffs/status ailments due to relentless assault, he could have singlehandedly wiped the ground with Bazael. :)

I didn't do a lot of party switching with the other 6 characters other than experimenting to see what they could do because they gained experience without being in the main party. I'm not sure if they gained 100% or something less, but I just rotated those 2 experience bonus accessories around until they caught up a bit. I knew I was going to use Ange, so joined the active party almost immediately.

Yes, I used Chrysal`s Disruption Sphere and Regen Aura regularly, plus his very strong attack with Miasma Storm.
Steven with Medic`s scalpel equipped healed the party with Cure Tempest+,also I used his Chaotic precise strike, his water spells and Miasma storm. Unfortunaly, the skill wanderlust was not so strong anymore(like my first game -50 hours),because I finished it faster (about 35 hours). Jasper attacked with Relentless barrage and TP Force L. With Salanthronos I used his skill Thin the herd,Final Barrage,Patriotism and skill to refill TP bar. All my characters except Chrysal had Chronologs equipped, and it gave them additional action many times.

Also, I want to add, that Chrysal and Steven are my favorite characters and I keep them all the time. I even managed to defeat Elder Pink the first time my party arrived to Saulek. About other two characters- I change them a little. The first time it were Mathias as attacker with very powerful lucky strike and Vol Baidar as a healer the most part. The second time I played with Vol Baidar again and with Garreth- his esotericism and Miasma storm are very strong.

That makes sense, I sometimes prefer using characters I like over stronger ones. Oh, you had The Scourge too. Looks like Bazael didn't stand a chance +::biggrin I really like the Chrono-items as well. As for Garreth, he can be a bit of a glass cannon character. I found Esotericism to be very strong, but you have to go all in on it, and with how slow and weak Garreth can be, he can end up dying before getting to attack. But when it hits, it's huge. Scarlet is nice because she's versatile and has many elements to attack with. Ange is definitely an important character and she's very useful, especially in the last fight because of her Light attacks. I love having a white mage as well, so I liked using her. Her magic power is quite high too. Not as high as Vol Baidar or Garsi, but she has more to offer than just offense.
I generally leaned towards Mathias being a support character as well. He can spam healing items, cast support skills or try to block attacks on weak characters.
Spoiler: show
I found Bazael to be tough when I fought him, but I missed a lot of Orbs/Miasmas before fighting him. I sometimes had bad turns where I would accidentally hit Bazael for like 10,000 damage and he spawned in like 4 people and it was a bad time on the next turn 8)

The characters all get the same amount of XP whether they're on your team or not, but some characters level up easier than others. Steven especially levels up quicker. I figured I'd give a bonus to him seeing as he's so hard to get.

I found Regen Aura to be very strong despite it looking rather basic. I would cast it first turn almost any time Chyrsal was on my team. His skills like Disruption Sphere also seemed good. I like how versatile Chrysal is. I could see Wanderlust being weaker on new playthroughs as you already know what to do and where to go. Salanthronos was pretty fun with Final Barrage :D I found the chrono-items to be really strong as well - I found them hard to switch out.

I gotta say that's impressive you beat Elder Pink when first reaching Saulek. I never managed to beat him at that point. He pretty much had me dead in just one or two turns. +::biggrin I just waited until later to get him. +::biggrin
I tried Lucky Mathias, he was pretty fun to use. Garreth's Esotericism I think has the most damage potential in the game, but you gotta really focus it. I love using it. :) And Miasma Storm I agree is really strong, especially for people big on exploring.

Anyway, it was cool to see how you guys played and arranged your teams. Quite a lot of it is different from how I played, so it's neat to see.

I'm in the castle basement going to fight Salanthrones but I don't know how to get through the gate - it doesn't open. There's 2 blue scones alight in the guide there are none alight but I'm not sure what I'm to do? Maybe I'm just tired! +::sos

Try this -- although I'm just going by the guide, I can't verify ingame.
Turn on all 5 candles. Enter the room with the 6 chest. Now turn off all 5 candles. Then just turn on 4 and 5 (lower middle and lower right). That's the way I'm interpreting the guide anyway.

Castle Basement

Postby Lizwiz » Sat Aug 15, 2020 1:46 pm

I too am stuck in this area. Thanks Lady JJ for your input but I can't find a room with 5 candles:

Throne Room = 2 candles
Left Area = 12 candles
Right Area = 9 candles
Upstairs = 12 candles

The guide says to light up all candles to open the gate. I've done this and gone round and round checking, but still the gate does not open. Completely at a loss ... +::wizard

OK, so I went back and looked at the Guide. This shows that in the right area (kitchen) you have to light up the two left torches, top and bottom, and the 2 right torches, top and bottom. All other torches in this area should be off including the single torch in the upper area.

The gate is now open +::YAY

Now all I have to do is the Boss Fight +::grrr

Are you in the castle basement, map #125? I count 5 total candles there. Matt usually chimes in fairly quickly, but this is probably his sleep time zone right now.

edit: Glad you got it figured out. Good luck with the boss fight. Showing mercy following the fight is a good strategy as far as gameplay is concerned.

Hi,
If you mean the gate near the sconces, you have to light up the candles in: Prejuvia Castle Left Wing, Right Wing and Upstairs. Left Wing: light them all up. Right Wing: Light up only the 4 corners and no other ones. Upstairs: The top 2 candles marked 5 and 6 (this map has 3 areas - candles 5 and 6 is the last part). All three rooms have to be completed to open this gate.

If you mean the gate blocking the treasure chests: there are 5 candles in the basement to light up and that will open the gate to the chests.

Does this help with the gate?

Glad you got it figured out Lizwiz :)

Hovia Institute Unlock Core

Postby Lizwiz » Sun Aug 16, 2020 12:49 pm

So I'm stuck again +

In the Hovia Institute Dome you have to collect slabs to make a pattern to operate the Unlock Core.

I have all the slabs except Slab I which the guide shows in Vordenstein Research Area (Map #150).
Where is this area? I'm at the room where there's a panel to place the slabs, but can't find this crucial room.

I believe it's exit 9 directly north of the panel to place the slabs. If that exit is locked, try using the solution given for unlocking the exit 12.
