First of all for anyone wondering about this game, it is very enjoyable to play. Definitely try the demo. It is nicely long, so you will get an idea of the game mechanics and general gameplay which I think most people will like.

A warning for beginning players. If you leave the first sewers (and possibly many other locations), all enemies respawn and rock puzzles reset upon your reentry to the sewers. Good if you made a mistake with the boulders or want to level up using a certain area.

So, I finished the sewers and have forgotten what’s next to do. As I always say, “When in doubt go to the bar.” Krei, the bartender, apparently is who I have to help. But he just says “what are you still doing here?” and tells the party to “get going”. Do I need to get in the rowboat?
@Luchi
This conversation with Krei should be used to remind the player what they should be doing since there is no quest log in the game and I forgot overnight what he wanted.

I got the “Explosives Bag” from the trader in the port town, taken it back to the alchemist, and now she wants the party to come back later for what she’s making. How do I recruit those 2 in the bar?

Following comments for @Luchi:
What sense/logic does it make for party members to not be able to use Heal skill when not in battle? If not for field medics, there would be a lot more dead soldiers when in war.

It’s a large area to explore so Map Labels in an upper left corner would be very helpful. Yes, I know the save file will tell you where you are. Really appreciate the Save File images, too

A huge plus for this game is there are NO random encounters (so far).

Laine has heal and heal all which can be equiped under skills for healing. but if you can get down to one enemy you can guard to replenish player might prolong time on battle but that works well.

On another note is anyone clear or near to getting to Raguel? Island? I'm kind of stuck just running around leveling and procuring supplies.

Anyone know where the levers are to open the gates at the end of the Manster Caves? I refuse to buy a guide just to solve what should be a rather straight forward puzzle. I have checked all the nooks, crannies, barrels, jars for a hidden switch to no avail. +::surrender

EDIT: I found the wall switches (not floor switches) that will be hard to see for some people.

I'm stuck in the Manster Caves with my resources running very low. Not enough MP restore items available at this point in the game and I cannot leave the area (except at the transport crystal?). 150 coins for +10MP is rediculous. A word of warning to people just starting ... you should minimize your MP use and hoard MP restore items. When you encounter Spinners and other critters that cannot be damaged by a physical attack, you may be using "Escape" more often than ever.

Also, I know it's supposed to be nighttime but why is the cave lighter than the outer area? The forest leading to the cave is way too dark for me and my vision is relatively good.

ANOTHER EDIT:
@Luchi
Please consider "fixing" that battle against the 3 entities in the cave at the end of the Demo. After that much work, the player should not have to repeat the battle. An "end of demo" statement should after this battle.

I am going to buy the full game now ... well, in a few minutes. Is the new update (v1.1) uploaded?

@Lady JJ: It will be a true Journal system that can be accessed from the main menu :)
I just have to be very careful with how I implement it. It may take a while because the game is fairly long (my clear time is 11.5 hours without grinding while my one friend did it in 19 hours with the guide, haha) and I want it to be as thorough as possible.

@kimo:

You need to head to the Forest of Pan then make your way east towards Orghaill Village. You will return to Clannad
after recruiting two new party members (this is after Orghaill Village and the Manster Caves). Wrt the Heal skills, Pat's
Quick Heal is battle only but Laine's Heal and Heall All can be used outside of battle as well. As for random encounters,
it happens exactly once in the game :) I'm not too fond of them myself. I'll definitely consider nerfing some of the enemies in the Manster Caves (especially the boss trio). Pat and his magic is usually enough to get rid of the Spinners.

The new game build won't go up until I include the Journal system.

@ZuluKat:

At what point are you now? Are you at the Port Town of Kraus and have you spoken to Trabant in front of the
Dauntless?

@kimo - I haven't used one healing / MP restorative since I restarted the demo and got a better handle on the skills learning system. Guard restores both HP and MP, so use it frequently when you're with low level enemies. Use Laine's heal outside of battle and Pat's quick heal inside battle. Get the JP Gain Boost passive skill as soon as you can. Keep in mind that you can only store a max of 2000 JP's, so spend them whenever you can.

Kreis wanted you to go to Orghaill to help them out. Enter the forest, then head west to the village. Save before you enter the village. Once you meet with the elder you won't be able to leave until you've finished the quest.

Trabant the Pirate (? spelling) just joined my party, so that's where I am, @ZuluKat. Not sure how far ahead of me you are.

Definitely take notes while you're waiting for that quest system to be implemented. You'll need them for sure as there are no reminders as to what to do next. I think the game would be impossible to play without the guide unless you write everything down. That's a major downfall to the game so this quest journal is going to be very welcome indeed.

That said, it's a really good game.

Yeah, I have 6 characters been to Patrick's temple and ship mates at port when you leave temple keep saying they're loading stuff still. I mean all's good cuz I switch out characters to level up but I can't afford a guide at this point. Shouldn't I be able to leave on Trabant's ship?
Here's the levels I'm at, Laine 45, Patrick, 41, Ianna 33, Cillian 33, Siglud 34, Trabant 32 and I'm at 21 hrs.

Ok, I forgot to put Trabant into the party...but after he asks if they're ready to go screen goes black when I said need to resupply. I figured hitting the tower with the Charon souls a little more to trade for mana potions but didn't expect black screen had to go back to previous save.

I bought the full game and the guide. I'm glad I bought the guide because I had ignored several places and done a bunch of stuff out of order. But the guide mentions something I cannot seem to trigger.

Has anyone been given the Alexandra Sword by Phillip? Laine talked to Krei to tell him she's leaving for a couple of weeks (or months) and the guide says then talk to Phillip. Phillip is supposed to be in his house, but he is in the weapon shop and just keeps asking how the last task went. No comment by Laine about leaving town, so I guess that is why the trigger/switch is not happening. +::surrender

EDIT: Okay, apparently I have discovered a strange glitch. Phillip is in the weapon shop AND is also in the adjacent house, too. Because I found Phillip in the weapon shop, I just assumed he could not also be in his house so I never looked. I was given the sword apparently by Phillip's doppelganger.

@Lady JJ: Message received, thank you. I'll definitely look into it.

Everyone else, thank you so much for your feedback so far! You've all been so thorough at eliminating these nasty bugs that I'm actually considering getting you guys on board as beta-testers for my next project :D

I'll have the new patch up by the end of the week assuming the Journal system doesn't mess up existing saves.

I'm not sure if this has been reported yet. Again, it's not a game breaking bug, just a glitch. After Laine elevates to Noble Blade, there are a few places where the walking sprite becomes invisible. Most noticable is on the way to Gorain Port, when you exit from the So'chen Highway (North) you become invisible and given the error message
Missed File: Graphics/Characters/$Laine Promoted_overworld
However, gameplay continues and the sprite becomes visible again as soon as you enter Gorain Port.

Hi Luchi,
This is a really good game for your first commercial endeavour- congratulations!! +::clap

I'm enjoying playing as best I can because I usually use a mouse. So unfortunately I am really clumsy and slow with keyboard play and miss lots of stuff.

I'll keep persevering as long as I can (until I become too frustrated with myself to continue) because I do really like the story and characters. I've been reading the other posts and feeling a bit jealous :( ...I even tried to look up online videos about how to play using keyboard as I obviously missed this step in my game play development +:oops:

In future, could you please consider incorporating mouse controls for those of us who are dexterously-challenged? ;)

All the best,
MerryX

@MerryX
The arrow keys, Enter (action) key, and possibly the space bar are pretty much all you need to use. But remember <Shift><Z> is required to pull rocks/pillars which is the developer's choice. <Enter> pushes those same items. Personally, I hate the use of the QWAS, WASD keys or similar 'cause I never remember that stuff.

@Luchi
And the award for the CHEESIEST boss name of all time goes to ..... Gargan Zola +::biggrin +::biggrin +::biggrin

@luchi - Cutscene with Lian Falias replays if clicked again. Event should be self-switched off I think. (And, as it turns out, you get another Lian Falias each time. I ended up with 2. Not that I could use 2, but still....) I'm excited to see the ending, but sad that it's coming to an end. Sign of a good book and/or good game. :)

Edit-So I finished. I thought the battles at the end were becoming a bit monotonous, but then came the final battle with Indech and I gotta say, that was very enjoyable. I won't include any spoilers just yet, but it was fun to figure out when to go full assault and when to lay back. The cutscenes, both pre and post battle, were a little distracting because Indech's bust figure kept flashing off as soon as the dialogue window opened. I'm not sure what happened there, but you might want to look at that and see why his image doesn't persist.

Really nice job on this game. I think you have a winner here if you fix the minor glitches and add that World Map and Quest Journal.

My total playing time was just under 30 hours, but that included a lot of grinding. Still, I think 25 hours would be a safe estimate for those who choose not to grind. Grinding isn't mandatory, I just really wanted to get all those passives for all my characters, including those couple of late arrivals. It's refreshing to find a developer who actually underestimates playing time. Many times it's the opposite with dev's maintaining their game takes about 15 hours to play and then players come here and say they finished in 4 1/2 hours or so. So, yeah, 15 hours for this game would be the absolute minimum I think.

Again, congratulations on going commercial. I wish you great success.

Many thanks, Kimo. Yes, the QWAS or WASD keys would do me in - I need the arrows +::biggrin I think I just find I'm slow and clunky with the keys, having to keep thinking which ones I need so it's not as relaxed for me. Nevertheless, I like this game so I've bought it - and the guide +::shhhh and I'm going to persevere. Both you and Lady JJ are right - it's a good game and gets better as you go along!
