Finding Light, a game by Joshua Keith Weatherholt, follows the tale of Mari and her quest to find her beloved partner Abbie and solve the mystery of Heaven's Door. Joined by the wise cleric Keller, the former knight Stray and Malady the witch, Mari must travel beyond the sky, through the ocean's depths and deep underground to find the entrance to Heaven's Door and find her partner before the world succumbs to darkness.

Finding Light takes place ten years after the events of Knight Bewitched (a game that met great success on Aldorlea earlier this year) and is a stand-alone sequel.

SUMMARY:

As monsters and miasma poured forth from the Black Tower, heroes Mari and Abbie climbed the tower and defeated its master, the wizard Morgoth. Two years later, Abbie vanished. At the same time, a towering spire emerged, stretching from the ocean’s depths to beyond the sky. "Heaven's Door", as some called it, caused the oceans to flood, submerging cities, kingdoms and even entire continents.

FEATURES:

* Beautiful Grayscale pixel graphics and 8-bit audio SFX
* Gameplay reminiscent of classic handheld RPGs
* Customize your party with six playable characters
* Brew specialized potions and elixirs with herbs found from enemies
* Gain spells and powerful techniques via equipment and spell orbs
* The Spirit Fox Roxie's abilities are determined by the meat she consumes from monsters
* Three difficulty modes for casual and experienced players

Hello everyone! My goal with Finding Light was to make it as close to the classic Gameboy RPG experience as possible:

-The entire world is 100% grayscale.
-The game is in a 'square' resolution - it can still be played fullscreen by hitting one of the F keys, but it may look stretched on widescreen monitors.
-It utilizes random encounters - "invisible enemies".
-Mouse and controller support are included. A miniguide with extra maps is also included with the game and can also be accessed here:

Be sure to try out the demo before you buy!

As said in the post, this game takes place ten years after Knight Bewitched and just three years after Mari and the Black Tower. If you played either or both of these games you'll recognize many familiar faces. That being said, you don't need to have played either previous game to enjoy this one. :)

This is the third game in what I've been calling the "Knights of Ambrose" saga. The fourth and last game of the series, Knight Eternal, uses the same graphics scheme (except in full color and widescreen), and will release on Aldorlea sometime early next year.

I'll be around to answer any questions, but I generally respond much faster via email: Jkweath@gmail.com. Enjoy!

Just wanted to say that I own all of this developer's games, and each in their own way are fun and entertaining. :)

the graphic of this game is absolutely killing me - I am not usually a guy who cares about graphics but this is too much for me ... I can't play who looks "like this " +::O_o

Yeah, I get ya. Having played quite a few RPGs from the Gameboy way back when, I fell in love with these graphics - but I'm aware that they, alongside some of the quirks I described before like the full grayscale, definitely aren't for everyone. Still, I wanted to release the game on Aldorlea for anyone here who wanted a throwback to the original SaGa series.

My next game, which is already complete and should release here around January, uses the same graphics scheme, but it looks much prettier as it's in full color. Assuming plans don't change (which mine do, very often), my next project should be Knight Bewitched 2, so if you played and enjoyed the first Knight Bewitched you may have that to look forward to :)

Sorry to hear about that! :(

I just helped out another person with the Tower of Trials as I forgot to include maps of it in the miniguide. Just in case you or anyone else here who plays the game needs help at this section, I have uploaded maps of four of the rooms in the Tower of Trials here:

In the latter two rooms, you just need to step on the marked tile to trigger the staircase to appear. :)

master slime, master alchemy

I can't find the Master alchemy in any of #8 caves. Also, is Master Slime unbeatable, even at level 60, or am I missing something obvious?

My strategy for the Master Slime is to go into the battle with maxed out TP for each hero and to spend the first turn or two buffing up. Have your hard-hitters like Stray or Gi use Power while Malady and Keller use Surge, and also use Fury2 and Wise2. If you don't have them already, Fury2 and Wise2 can be bought from the underwater town Gabenport while Power and Surge can be bought from an old man wandering around in the underwater Labyrinth.

After buffing up, use your hardest-hitting abilities like Rapid-F and Nuke. Both can be bought from the cave right next to Heaven's Door. You'll need to defeat Tiamat first. It helps greatly to have Sylvanaras as well.

As for the Master alchemy recipe, here's a screenshot showing where it's located:

You can't see the chest with this screenshot, but its location is marked in red. You'll need to lower the lava with the switches in Tiamat's Lair first to access it. The little island shown in that screenshot also has the Durandal Axe which is really good on Stray if you don't have him using Sylvanaras already.

Thank you--I found Master Alchemy.

I've tried your strategy re the Master Slime and I still keep getting wiped out by the gravity spell. I am at level 73; I have 2 MagArmors, Sylvanarus, Ragnarok, Diamond, Durandal--nothing makes much of a dent. What am I missing?

I went ahead and ran a fight against the Master Slime myself. It is definitely a very difficult fight to learn. Had I released the game today I probably would have toned its HP down quite a bit.

I'll outline the strategy I used in a spoiler below. In this strategy, I used Stray, Gi, Mari and Malady, all at level 55 with their TP at 100 before the battle.

Stray had Durandal equipped, Mari with Sylvanaras, and Malady with Necron book (the 'Boil' book will work too if you don't have Necron yet). Headpiece, armor and relic aren't too important but it helps to equip anything that increases Strength for Stray and Gi and anything that increases Intellect for Mari and Malady. HP and healing spells aren't important here because the Gravity spell does exactly 26% of your max HP in damage, so you essentially have three turns to defeat it as the Master Slime always goes first.

Anywho, here's the strategy:

Spoiler: show
Turn 1:

Stray uses Power
Gi uses Power
Mari uses Surge
Malady uses Surge

Turn 2:

Stray uses a normal attack
Gi uses a normal attack
Mari uses Fury2
Malady uses Wise2

(the normal attacks are to get Stray's and Gi's TP up for Rapid-F)

Turn 3:

Stray uses Rapid-F
Gi uses Rapid-F
Mari uses Nuke
Malady uses Nuke

Master Slime is defeated!
Received "Lazy"!

Keller can replace Mari if you prefer. I also wouldn't use Roxie. If you still have trouble, the optional Depths dungeon, which is located in Deepforge and unlocks after fighting the 3rd boss of Heaven's Door, has additional equipment upgrades that can help a lot.

Heaven's Door is open, it says I have 3 crystals
BUT Halonia won't give up the Sylvanaras!!!
The sky Farm NEVER ACTIVATED a bush
I talk to the cat 5 or 25 times!!! Meow, baby
So why does it say I have 3 crystals
if I never got the sky farm?????

...and still can't find out how to activate the bushes
tho following your miniguide!
to open the sky farm door and get the real third crystal??
I have all five pages; all five Clues;
I'm going over every flower plant and fence post
to no avail... and I need my SYLVANARAS!!!

WHAT AM I MISSING???
