Game Review

I'd like to start off by saying that I've really enjoyed playing all of your games, but I find quite a few faults in them. I love your games for the gameplay. You do an amazing job making repetitive battles fun and interesting and I enjoy the insane amount of side quests you put into each game. But, those facts aside, I think your games lack quite a bit.

I think the dialogue can seem childish at times as does a lot of the artwork. I hope, since I assume that the LF games were more profitable than before, that the quality of both of these will improve on the next trilogy. For example, what bothered me the most was the battler of Kenny the halo (I assume it was a halo?) was horridly photoshoped and was surrounded by a jagged white outline. Also, I think a few of your sprites could use some work. Sarah's sprite from the side view has no eyes which always seemed odd and Timbany's sprite from the side seemed really off... I'm not sure how, but it did. I'd love to see more custom work in the next trilogy and not all standard RPGXP RTP or edits of the standard.

I think my biggest problem with the series is how static all of the characters are. True, Wendi did have a small amount of personal growth, but as a whole all of your characters are comedic relief, "macho" males, or submissive females. The characters are not believable. If Sarah were a real person her response to advances from other women towards Random would not be to take her clothes off... I think a lot of the reason the romance is lacking in your games is because you don't feel for a character you can't identify with. And, on a side not, every female character should not be in "love" with Random... it's silly.

As I said, I will continue to play your games and I enjoy them, I just wish you would take some of my suggestions into account on the next project.

Looking forward to the next game :)

I could have, but I wasn't answering those questions specifically and I don't like cluttering a topic. I would happily move it their if Indy would prefer. I thought he would just appreciate the opinions of his audience.

It's always interesting to get some feedback like this. :)

The idea behind LF was to keep it cohesive. I mean, I *could* have switched to the better tilesets of Millennium, or to the more polished art of the same game, but that would have annihilated all sense of continuity. So LF3 HAD to look like LF1, at least in my views of things.

As for characters not evolving, I would say Luciana does evolve quite a bit O___o
And as far as I can tell, not every girl loves Random - in fact none but Sarah said they loved him. You can only *guess* whether Yveen, or Wendie, or whoever, is in love with him.
Speaking of Random, he is another who changes imo
The comedy is still a big part in the game and that's probably where you find it childish at times, but I can't really agree that the characters do not evolve - any second thoughts about it? ^^

Another question, have you tried the other games of mine such as Millennium? For instance, you could see the art improvement, no? It is true that the new trilogy will improve on my best and current standards, not decrease. I hope you will enjoy it even more when it comes out! :)

I have played your other games and have enjoyed them all. I understood your reasoning behind not changing the art throughout one trilogy, I was just saying for the next trilogy I really hope to see the same level of gameplay as the LF series with higher quality aspects.

I was never criticising the comedy in the game. I quite enjoy it. I was just stating that that's the three dynamics your characters fall under. I'm very grateful that you remember to include these elements and don't focus solely on the more dramatic moments. The parts I found childish were, a lot of the time, supposed to be more serious elements.

As far as character development, I'm afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree. There's a difference between personal growth and a character "evolving" as you say. Maybe you're trying to show this, and it's just not coming through? I don't know how you diagram characters before you begin writing, but I find it extremely useful make a long list of seemingly useless data over a character. (favorite colors, books, food, etc) So, that you can really dig into a characters persona and make the most of it. To me it seems like Random is the headstrong hero, but what else? What are his faults? His weaknesses? Wendi is the submissive slave, but why is this? And, furthermore, why does Random treat her as a slave when she's obviously a partner? Shouldn't their relationship have grown past that? Why is Sarah the damsel in distress (besides everyone expects it)?

I really hope you think about what I've said at least a little because minus what I've said I think that the Laxius games are easily the best RPG Maker games I've played
