Point Orbs and Locked Chests

Soooo.
All these point orbs I'm picking up - do I go somewhere and apply them to certain characters' skills, or do they do their thing on their own?
Aaaand.... how does one open locked chests?

You can spend the orbs at the Monastery of the Lost Sea, about locked chests, you need to equip in Marine the Magical Key.

I see. I guess this is something you get later on? I hope I wasn't stupid and didn't accidentally sell it

I don't know if can be found in Millennium 4, I had one because I imported.

I found 2 keys in MM4. One in a secret room in Grand Rift secret room 14 IIRC. And one in the sewers I guess. But Sewer key doesn't matter much...
