soooo who are the strongest characters?... and those who quite let you down or failed to reach expectations?

Jordan failed to reach my expectations! Everybody says what a great fighter he is. He was okay before getting sick, but from that point on I hardly used him because he was so weak.

Strongest fighter ... depended on the how far in the game I was.
Teksab was pretty good for a while, especially because he counters hits.
Zetta saved me from the Carnivorous Flames with the Captain's Sword and Slaughterer Gauntlet, but she's slow.
Then came Barbara. And Barbara is veeeeery fast, woohoo!
Nagam is quite a strong fighter too and so is Luis of course.
Not to forget Princess Lo! She really proved herself!
But for me the strongest in the final battle was Alex with the Doom Saw and Slaughterer Gauntlet. Not just a pretty face, there's much more behind it!!!

I would say Jordan is pretty powerful when he is not sick. He is a HP tank!

Any comment on the "true" animals (ie not Nagam or Luis)

HP tank for sure, that's true!
The real animals are cute and I used some, like the horse because he can numb, but some I didn't use at all. They are a nice addition to the game, but not necessary for the main quest.
If I had to choose one I'd say the horse - because of the ability to numb.

I found it interesting that the two bears and two tigers were not the same. The had different strength, different MP .... That's cool!

He is the wolf.
Tsen can have really high defense too if you figure out how it works.

Ah, okay. Don't think I figured anything out about his defense!

For me it was Clea and Zetta.

Clea because of that sacred spell that could kill at once a Butcher. And Zetta's Battle Dance LV2 when boosted is a killing machine.

And what about Nagam or Luis?

Oh right, forgot about them. Those two are also included, Luis became the strongest after I equiped him with the Mace of the Gods. Luis wasn't so strong like him but still his attacks were good enough to deal a great damage in the enemies and his Healing spell was useful during the last battle.
