Very Beginning of Oracle Basement.

I feel soooo incredibly stupid, like i should at least be able to find the first step of the way in the castle basement?

Hahahah no.

So I've defeated all the monsters in the first area... but I have no idea what to do next. Please tell me there's a hidden door [or which of the landscape doors do I take first?] or do I need to shrink myself to fit in the pink castle or the little miniature tower?] I've even tried equipping the ballet shoes because -- oh yes, they match the pink castle.

So I've moved on from doing useful things to stupid things, and could really, really use a hint.

There is a hidden path at the entrance, on the left hand side. Follow it up to a room with some towers.

Before entering the towers, I collected the chest to the right of them.

Then enter the towers in this order to get the best items:
Middle tower, then the left tower and only then the right tower.
BUT before doing the towers, if you collected the old notebook from Susannah's house, go into the right tower and near the entrance there is a ghost. Read the old notebook in front of it and Om will join you. Exit straightaway and start the middle tower. You now have 4 people in the party and Om gets levelled up nicely.

Why oh why is this so confusing?

Instructions say go into the middle tower ... then the left tower ... then the right tower

Instructions THEN SAYS before doing ANY OF THE TOWERS
go into the right tower and there is ghost at the at entrace
and then read the "old notebook" to the ghost

I do not see this "ghost" after entering the right tower

what am I missing here? I have tried reading the old notebook
at the right tower ... the middle tower ... the left tower

Please assist me so that I can then add Om to my party. Thank you
