I have explored a considerable portion of Turtle Cave, so I'm pretty far into the game. I have never been able to use Katie's perception skill. She's at about level 65 and I have accumulated a lot of perception points. Is this a bug in the program? If not, how and when will I be able to use this skill?

Also, I don't understand the whole identification thing. Please advise.

Katie's perception is an automatic skill, which means if there is something hidden a balloon with a lamp will appear where there's a hidden item. That's how her perception works.
