But the "general monster sprite" doesn't look as nice as normal ones.
In Sylia for instance, iirc, there were different monster sprites, but each sprite represented a group of monsters - unlike LF, where every sprite was one monster, and when you killed a whole bunch of them, then all the sprites were gone. So you'd have to have various sprites running around in order to have different monsters in one group. Which is very repetetive when levelling up. Every time you return to the screen you fight the same group again.
In TBOL every dungeon has several different groups of monsters. That's why I said it's not as boring to level up that way.

Yes LF had actual groups visible on the maps, not just a "ghost" (or any other sprite) symbolizing the group.
It is MUCH better imo to show all the monsters, but also MUCH harder from a dev's point of view.

I bet it is. And even more in a huge game like LF! Yet for a change it's still very cool to play.

Yes LF was a behemoth to make, especially LF3.
Definitely one of the most difficult game to make.

What's with The Undefeated? Which game and it be compared with size-wise? Will it be about like TBOL?

No, TBOL is too big for it. But the mood and story style is a bit like LF.
In size it's more like Moonchild I think, not too big. But I'll price it accordingly (like I always do) so this should not be very relevant. :)

Well, I do like those for the most part. What I'm not fond of are sidequests like the chopper quest in TBOL. "There's an evil assassin and he's killing people, but I have no idea at all where he could be". That means searching every little place in the entire game all over again.
Also I'm usually not too happy about triggering new sidequests when the game is almost over. Then I'm keen playing the finale and don't want to be distracted by other things anymore.
