What exactly is MAT?
And what is Luck good for?

MAT is Magical Attack. It's the strength of your spells, in just the same way as ATK is the strength of your physical attack.

Luck is used to calculate things like
how often you deal out a critical blow
the likelihood of being able to inflict a state on the enemy or avoid being inflicted by one.

Sometimes (though not in this game) it is also things like how successful you are if you have a 'Steal' skill. It can also be used as part of the calculation in other skills - that's how I'm using it in my next game. It's an underused stat in almost all games and I'm hoping to give it more significance in the future.

So MAT kinda replaces INT?

Yes it does, though there may be subtle differences because INT is in XP and MAT is in Ace and as I've never made a game in XP I might not be aware of any slight alterations in how it's calculated and used.
