Can someone tell me whether the little "squares" highlighted over small lights on the walls in the dungeons actually mean or do anything. Other little "squares" indicate a monster or stairs etc. Also "flames" in rooms - are they significant. I have the guide but it does not mention their purpose.

little squares are not supposed to be important. you need to pay attention mostly to yellow/green/red dots.
